view of the American legal system, fake TV judges have become a
constant presence in our lives. But as Contributing Editor Greg
Beato writes, while Judge Judy and other shows may promote
self-reliance and personal responsibility, they also portray a
fantasy world that would radically expand the scope of governmental
interference in our lives.
