You gotta start brainwashing 'em early.

I honestly don't understand how any responsible parent could let their kid be "educated" in the government schools. If you value your ideals and the lives of your children enough, you'll figure out a way to either homeschool your kids or find a private school that shares those ideals. Otherwise, it seems to me that you'll always be fighting a losing battle to deprogram them.

squarooticus, I agree wholeheartedly. Why is it considered a given (and a positive!) that we'll stick our kids in an institution for 12 years? And why would it be a good idea to extend that to 13? Ick.

The problem we ran into was the private, non-religious school we started out with was worse than any public school for zero-tolerance PC crap. That left the expensive Scientology school, the Catholic schools, the fundie schools, or the public school, which happened to be a high-performing school in a neighborhood with a good cross section of successful middle-middle to upper-middle class, multi-ethnic familes. Our kids didn't like home schooling because they both are extremely social and we live in the middle of nowhere.

Yes, we do have the deprogrammer running all the time. But, the indoctrination isn't as bad as you would think. Not in elementary school anyway.

However, we spend lots of time with those kids and their school stuff. We are diligent. In fact, I think Mrs TWC may as well be homeschooling the boy for the amount of time she spends with him.

I didn't know they had those.

I was home-schooled the first couple years but I'm glad I eventually got to t3h public schools (I don't know, private school might have been better) otherwise I'd be even weirder (socially).
