New at Reason: David Weigel on the Death of a Libertarian Democrat
Not so
long ago, Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer embodied the notion of
a "libertarian Democrat"—pro-gun, anti-tax pols who just might have
been the future of the Donkey Party.
At last night's Democratic National Convention, Schweitzer gave a speech that was silent on gun rights and big on big government programs. It just might have made him a star.
