Roger Stone is often described as a Republican Party "dirty-trickster"; he's a tireless advocate of wife-swapping; he has a large tattoo on his upper-back (well, it's a tattoo of Nixon, but nevertheless...); and he helped destroy the political career of former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, an achievement for which he should be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. When Stone stopped by the reason office last year, he professed fealty to the Republican Party but not, obviously, its social conservative wing. Deep down, Stone said to a skeptical audience (again, remember that Nixon tattoo), he was something of a libertarian.
The New York Daily News reports that Stone "performed" last night at the Yippie Café on Bleeker Street with his friend Randy Credico, a comedian and drug-law reform advocate. And according to Daily News reporter Elizabeth Benjamin, the rock-ribbed Republican attacked New York's harsh, antediluvian drug laws:
Stone deemed the system "racist," and noted that those who are poor and of color end up in the system, more often than not, while white people with enough money to hire an attorney (he mentioned a certain former LG's daughter) generally manage to avoid

Cratered Eliot Spitzer.
Opposes the drug war.
Large tattoo on upper back. (I'd like to hear the story behind that
one, BTW.)
What's not to like?
Advocates wife swapping. Against punitive drug laws.
Why's he a Republican again? Maybe he hasn't paid attention to his
party since Nixon.
Well, he framed me for armed robbery, but man, I'm aching for that
upper-class tax cut.
Interesting choice of venue. Someone (maybe me!) should write an article sometime comparing Stone-style ratfucking to the classic yippie pranks, and figuring out where both sit in the Great American Hoax Tradition.
Well, he framed me for armed robbery, but man, I'm aching
for that upper-class tax cut.
This year more than ever I'm finding the best electoral advice has
come from the Simpsons. Every time I think about the McCain/Obama
match-up I can't help but recall Kang's words of wisdom:
"It makes no difference which one of us you vote for. Either way,
your planet is doomed. DOOMED!"
"Nixon tattoo" is a phrase that just does not compute.
CMS,
Hey, Al Gore could still run.
Stone never claimed to be anything but a libertarian
conservative- no family values guy he- so is it suprizing that he
opposes NY drug laws that are expensive, ineffective and
racist?
Bravo to Stone for telling it like it is.
Advocates wife swapping. Against punitive drug laws. Why's he a Republican again?
It was Roger Stone(R) that helped take down Eliot Spitzer(D). Who's
the hypocritical social conservative in that matchup, huh?
As for the wife swapping, the Democrat Party does have a reputation
as a haven for philanderers, but they are every bit as bad as the
Republicans when it comes to the drug war. Clinton did nothing to
legalize drugs, and in fact censored a Surgeon General for daring
to ponder the efficacy of the War on Drugs (he later fired her for
daring to suggest that masturbation might count as "safe sex").
Hell, he coulnd't even admit to inhaling. Some may claim that
priapetic Clinton was really a closet social conservative, but that
does nothing to explain how the current Democrat led congress and
senate has also done nothing to end narcotics prohibition.
I don't know where the Democrat Party got its reputation as
pro-legalization, because I can't see a bit of it. Maybe it's
different in other parts of the country, but here in California,
Pelosi, Feinstein and Boxer have done absolutely nothing to
legalize marijuana, and have in fact turned a blind eye to the
creeping regulation and zoning that threatens to drive legal
medical marijuana back underground.
I don't think you've paid attention to your own party since
Jefferson.
He's right about the nonviability of third parties due to how
the system is set up. When a candidate can win with a plurality, a
candidate with little support hurts whoever is closest to him in
position.
What we should have everywhere is a first-past-the-post system
where you need 50% + 1 vote to be elected. That way if a Lib
candidate got competitive to the point of being a #2 candidate,
they'd have a chance in a two-person runoff election.
Stone seems like a slimeball to me... is that a grey, shiny mafia-like suit he is wearing in the video? or do I need to readjust the color/tint on my computer screen?
If you have the balls have a picture of Richard Nixon's face on your back for life, you deserve some points in my book...
I have a theory on the Sptizer deal. I don't buy for a minute
that the FBI just happened to be investigating a high end call girl
ring that just happened to involve Spitzer. That is just too
coincidental for my taste. I think that someone knew that Spitzer
was involved and tipped the FBI off to the ring and they went after
the ring to get Spitzer. How did someone find out? Moreover, even
if they knew Spitzer was seeing hookers, how do they know what
service he was using?
Perhaps the government has ways to read anyone's e-mail and perhaps
someone read Spitzer's e-mails. Now of course that would be illegal
and inadmissible in court. But telling the FBI that they might want
to look into the "Emperor's Club" prostitution ring, washes one's
hands of that illegality doesn't it?
"A tattoo of Nixon? Now, that is just preternaturally
cool."
Now what is really cool would be a tattoo of Nixon bowling, ala the
picture in the Dude's in The Big Labowski.
I think he got that tat so Cohn would have something to look at while he was hittin it.
If you think the tatoo is bad, google some of his email ID's and you'll quickly find some nudie photo's of him getting blown in some hot tub. He's been nailed (so to speak) for his swinging activities before putting him in GOP limbo but he's been clawing his way back ever since.
"(he mentioned a certain former LG's daughter)"
Anyone know who he is referring to?
thanks
Stone gets more pussy in a week than any of you losers get in a
year. Sure people hate him- he lives high, dresses well and doesnt
give a shit what people think of him,
Took down Spitzer and Gore, Go Stone !
