Does Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) hate our troops? If not, then why is he trying to ban morale-boosting men's magazines from U.S. military bases? From Stars & Stripes:
A Department of Defense committee that reviews materials sold on bases ruled last year that magazines such as Playboy and Penthouse are not pornographic. But Broun's Military Honor and Decency Act includes language that could make those magazines eligible for the ban.

"They're making it a point of undermining soldiers to almost make them feel like we're back in elementary school," Pfc. Nickolas Sears said Friday at Camp Red Cloud, South Korea. "We're all adults here, and if it's something we want to do, we should feel free to choose as we please."

UPDATE: Senior Editor Radley Balko already targeted his sights on Broun's bill.

I'm sure Broun is for freedom, except the freedoms he doesn't like (or won't publically admit to liking).
Holy shit is he an ass. "Well, you can kill foreigners but you
can't drink beer or look at nudie mags."
Is he trying to lose every military vote he gets?
I thought this joker already had his fifteen minutes.
His time's up and his dumb bill ain't gonna pass.
well, we all know that masturbation is a sin against God, so why do we allow it in greater society anyway?
At some point, prolly after it's too late, someone is going to
notice the EXTREME similarities between radical Islamics, and the
Republican party.
I mean really notice, including what that similarity really means
for interpreting the last twenty years.
We're all adults here, and if it's something we want to do,
we should feel free to choose as we please.
I'm hoping the PFC puncuated that sentence by reassembling his M-4
in two seconds flat, while maintaining eye contact with the
interviewer.
At some point, prolly after it's too late, someone is going
to notice the EXTREME similarities between radical Islamics, and
the Republican party.
You'd think the Republican suicide bombers would have tipped them
off.
"We're all adults here, and if it's something we want to do,

Ha ha ha ha ha That's a good one.
You got to hand it to Pfc. Nickolas Sears, most soldiers don't make
it out of boot camp with a sense of humor like that still in
tact.
Some issues never die.
(The next time someone tells you that the GOP is the party of
ideas, you should kindly direct them to my nut sack.)
This is my rifle,
This is my gun.
This is for fighting.
This is for fun.

Yes, all Republicans are religious fanatics who hate porn. All 55
million of them. And after many years of Republican control, we're
all forced to carry crosses around on Easter. Lord, I don't like
the GOP, either, but the nonsense people spout about them is
incredible. Of course, all Democrats are Neo-Maoists.
You'd think the Republican suicide bombers would have tipped them off.
Eric Rudolph and Timothy McVeigh managed to do their bombing
without blowing themselves up.
I'm not one to go that far (in re: the GOP and Islam) BUT I see
the general point: instead of the traditional narrative of WWII
being "America the Hero of Freedom" v. "The Evils of Fascism", most
people recognize that WWII was a time when statist governments just
went crazy on each other.
I see the similarities...
At some point, prolly after it's too late, someone is going

the Republican party.
There's a great episode of American Dad which makes precisely this
point.
Dinesh D'Souza wrote a whole book about how American conservatives should ally themselves with "moderate" Muslims. ("moderate" in quotes because I'm not sure what moderate means to him)
UPDATE: Senior Editor Radley Balko already targeted his

Not just any old Radley Balko, mind you, but Senior Editor
Radley Balko, lest there be any confusion.
Reinmoose the Self-righteous Prick,
"well, we all know that masturbation is a sin against God, so why

Just you TRY and stop me!
/Please don't no-knock raid my house... I swear--not THAT many
kittens died for my crimes!!
THE URKOBOLD HAS A QUESTION. IS IT TRUE THAT "Cute Summer Work Outfits Don't Include Cleavage?"
Eric Rudolph and Timothy McVeigh managed to do their bombing
without blowing themselves up.
Well, Rudolph made a point of dumping on Republicans during his
guilty plea, and McVeigh was never politically active, so I think
its a little much to hang a Republicans = Islamonutters rant on
them.
You could as well say Democrats = Islamonutters because of the
Unabomber, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.
"Playboy is good entertainment while you are on the can. They have jokes and good stories," he said.
(knocking noise) You done yet in there?
(fapping noise) Just a few more minutes!
Actually, I doubt this matters. Military servers are full, and I mean chock full, of all the free porn you can imagine. Couple of buddies who are back from Iraq say they never seen treasure troves of porn like that anywhere. Praise American ingenuity!

I believe that top brass wanted to curtail risque nose art during
wwii, but then cooler heads prevailed when they realized they were
sending these young men into the sausage grinder of German flak and
fighter planes. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail here.

What an ass. I admit, I liked this guy before. I bought into the
line from many of the Ron Paul folks that he was a
"libertarian".
My gosh, how we were fooled.
Not often that one issue negates all the other good things that
someone supports. I'd say this is one of those times.
Once again Reason is fighting the good fight. Never mind that there are far too many troops costing far too many dollars and causing far too much damage. As long as they have access to porn it's all good.
"So you want me to vote for a bill that takes the pornos away from a group of guys who take do a headshot from 1000 yards. Yeah, I'll call you back."
