I remember in, I think, 94, at a California republican party convention in Sacramento when Mike Huffington was still hetero and was doing Arianna's bidding, he was after some conservative's house seat. The opposition hired actors to play Mike and Arianna in the lobby - he was doing acrobatics and they were both wearing weird masks. I think the point was that they were artificial weirdos and would do anything for attention/power. Eerily prescient.

True Chris, true. Its possible to change ones political opinions
(Hillary from Goldwater Girl to centrist Democrat, Reagan in the
opposite direction) but I get suspicious if they occoured in middle
age rather than in ones 20s, particularly right before an
election.
I've said it before and I'll say it again--Romney could've had the
nomination as a centrist, business-oriented Republican especially
given the state of the economy and his experience in that area.

It's not like the college kids canvassing for candidates
(alliteration alert) get much voice in the future administrations
if they win; I think it's entirely possible that she could have
been currying favor with someone, like for example her dad, where
whether Goldwater actually became president wasn't relevant. It's
not like Bill and Hillary didn't get anything for canvassing for
McGovern when it was his turn to lose spectacularly.

Chris Potter is a devout Catholic, I'm a recovering Catholic. But I
still respect his right to believe in whatever he wants. And we're
both convinced libertarians and therefore agree 99% of the time on
politics.
He can go to mass on Sunday, and I can sleep in, smoke a bowl and
go eat a breakfast at City Dinner. And neither thing breaks anyones

I remember watching the gubernatorial "debates" with the wide open field when they were recalling Davis. I watched Huffington give her opening statement and I was surprised by how little it sucked. Then, for the rest of the debate, she pretty much just regurgitated portions of her opening statement over and over again in response to every question, regardless of relevancy. I've thought as little as possible about her since.
