New at Reason

In the Arizona desert, Drew Carey discovers a modern-day "Footloose" story. A few years ago, Dale and Spencer Bell built a family oriented steak house with outdoor seating, fire pits, lots of old western style, and live music. But beware if you get the urge to scoot your boots—county officials have invoked an anachronistic ordinance that bans dancing outside.

    The law's the law, it must be enforced, don't like it then lobby to have it changed, or move.

    Wahhabism. You Texans should be sooo proud.

    Reminds me of one of my favorite jokes (Maybe it was in the video, I can't watch at work):

    Why can't Baptists have sex standing up?

    It might lead to dancing.

    I wouldn't be surprised if Joe Arpaio is behind this. From the restaurant's website, the place is literally on the Pinal County/Maricopa County line.

    this is true. whether or not the cabaret licensing will go the way of the dodo is one of those perennial 2nd avenue subway type deals.

    Yes. I remember when Giulianni and Bloomberg to a greater extent cracked down on New York dancing, someone aptly pointed out, "For Christ sake, they're allowed to dance in Adghanistan now!"

  • R C Dean||

    Is Adghanistan over by all the ad agencies on Fifth Ave?

    Another great piece by Reason.tv -- thanks -- sorry, I'm snarkless today...
