Aren't O'Reilly and Larry King on at the same time? RP has the news channels bracketed! Get Weigel on MSNBC stat!
Given O'Reilly's batshit crazy, and Gillespie's lukewarm support of Paul, I don't expect much from this.
O'Reilly used to be provocative. Now he appears a buffoon. Or maybe my perspective has changed. Anyone else feel this way?
Don't be nice, Nick.
Go right back at him.
The best thing you can do for the libertarian cause is to show that
it can be a fightin' man's philosophy, too.
ICK! I have to put up with O'Reilley to see Nick talk about
Kucinich Dr. Paul? Wish I could find that Penn &
Teller show he was on instead.
sixstring,
I never found O'Reilley "provocative" I have always found him
annoying.
Frankly, I'm surprised that ORLY didn't invite DONDEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to talk about Paul. That would be a sight to see.
Sorry I no longer watch Fox News, they have been excluded from my television for being third tier and second rate.
Stand by our man now. It's okay, I won't tell Ron Bailey if you side with Paul on evolution, nor libertarian hawks regarding the war, nor cosmo-libertarians regarding abortion. Otherwise, you're good to go. Be strong!
Nooooooooo! Gillespie is secretly a Donderoite! He's one of
those "beltway libertarians" Rockwell is always going on
about.
Actually, if Nick decides to be pro-Paul, it means that the word is
out that the Paul bandwagon is leaving the station and there's
limited time left to get on it.
If Nick decides to be anti-Paul, it's because he's AN O'REILLY
CAT'S PAW!!!!!!
[Note to self: scratch theory that Guy Montag is a Bill O'Reilly pen name.]
O'Reilly used to be provocative. Now he appears a buffoon.
Or maybe my perspective has changed. Anyone else feel this
way?
I think when Faux News was coming up and they were an underdog
network, his rantings seemed like fighting for the little guy,
especially when you have Clinton to bash.
After that, then yes, he is more of a pompous buffoon...
Um, you guys looking for a real bufoon more annoying than O'Reilley you need to check that Oberman jokester on MSNBC.
Supposedly Hannity just sucked up to Paul on his radio
show...
Is this the part of the process where the establishment guys hedge
their bets...just in case?
Or is this part of the planning for the "Stop Huckabee in NH"
operation? If Huckabee wins tomorrow the anti-Huck forces need
EVERYBODY to slap this guy down.
O'Reilly used to be provocative. Now he appears a buffoon.
Or maybe my perspective has changed. Anyone else feel this
way?
Why yes, now that you mention it. Someone else does. Or at
least did. Then she seems to have fallen off the face of the
earth.
Good for Mrs. Clinton that Iowa has all that gun control, or the nut that showed up at her rally today might have been armed with something other than a knife!
How does the Mushariff election delay affect the Dr. Paul campaing? Is it another plot to keep him off TV?
I'm surprised that ORLY didn't invite DONDEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to talk about Paul
We'd be hearing about how Bill is really a libertarian...
Nick on O'Reilley
Dr. Paul on Larry King
Mrs. Clinton on Letterman
Gov. Huckabee on Leno
and, maybe, Kucinich on Sci-Fi? Maybe Coast to Coast
AM?
The only reason Fox wants these Reason people on is because they
know they'll bash Ron Paul. Fox has lost its credibility completely
as a news organization.
For a great satire on mainstream media, as well as the neocon
president and the so-called war on terror, see this YouTube music
video from the international award-winning zombie musical feature
film, "Song of the Dead." It stars horror movie veteran Reggie
Bannister (Phantasm, Wishmaster, Bubba Ho-tep) as the president of
the U.S. The filmmaker, Chip Gubera, is giving a share of his
profits from DVD sales to the Ron Paul campaign. Go to:

"We'd be hearing about how Bill is really a
libertarian..."
Oh, we'll be hearing that anyway, I'm sure. a la Glenn Beck, and
every other radio/talk show guy that opens his fat mouth when
speaking to or of Paul, the old "Ya know...I'm a libertarian at
heart..." Yeah, whatever.
Nick,
Feel free Jap slap the loud mouthed, ingnorant, waste of resources.
I won't hold it against you.
O'Reilly is under the misimpression that all of the morons are at FoxNews, that is either they really believe or they are cynically playing the part that they represent the disenfranchised, the little guy, so ridiculous.
Who gives two shits what "don't you fear Iran?" Bill O'Dorkly
says about Dr. Paul? I don't. I stopped watching that buffoon the
first time Congressman Dr. Ron Paul was on his show and it was the
last time I watched it with few exceptions.
Fuck Bill O. Fuck FAUX. Fuck 'em all. I hope Dr. Paul wins Iowa and
NH and then refuses the expected invite to attend their stupid dog
and pony show on the 6th.
@thoreau
Frankly, I'm surprised that ORLY didn't invite
DONDEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to talk about Paul. That would be
a sight to see.
Nobody, but nobody using Dondero as a source is gonna be
dumb enough to actually put him in front of a camera where all the
world can see the guy is batshit insane!
Of course, the most brilliant criticism must be distinguished by juvenile name calling and profanity. That is the new maturity I hear.
@Warren
Given O'Reilly's batshit crazy, and Gillespie's lukewarm
support of Paul, I don't expect much from this.
I think Nick is smart enough to recognize that Paul is the catalyst
for the popular libertarian movement, not the movement himself. I
don't think you'll be disappointed.
I left out throwing food and stomping around in my previous post. But that stuff is not that visible on this 'blog.
crimethink,
Scroll up, I have the part of the list I know and the part I wish
for too.
Hmmm, good TV tonight, I'll have to DVR Larry King and Bill-O while I watch the Rangers beat the Flames. Center Ice Rules!
Make sure you slip in one of of Ron Paul's lesser known policy positions: The decriminalization of ferrets!
Rub your luck $20 gold piece, light up a cigar with some fiat money and dust off your top hat?
I've been moanin to the girlfriend to cancel our (her)cable TV
for the past two years since all it seems to do is entertain the
endless stream of teenage delinquents crashing at our
(her)house.
And now, what the hell, she cancelled it! Finally, there is
something I'd like to watch and I'm SOL.
With any luck, Ron on at 8pm, download to start at 9.
Nick, if that bitch O'reilly starts with his dissin, threaten to
bust a cap in his ass all libertarian style.
You have to throw BOR for a loop. Out Jesus him just when he thinks he's making a point about secularism. Ron Paul certainly has enough Jesuser positions to make it work. When BOR talks about culture wars (drugs, etc), then out family him (parents raise kids, not drug dealers). Out illegal immigration him, out anti-abortion him. In short, make him feel guilty and stupid for not having supported Ron Paul all this time.
Make sure you slip in one of of Ron Paul's lesser known
policy positions: The decriminalization of ferrets!
I thought Dr Paul would let the states decide that hot-button
issue.
Nick,
If you hate G_d and love weed make sure to tell Mr. O'Reilley that
so you have something to discuss in addition to Dr. Paul's views on
Honest Abe.
Actually, if Nick decides to be pro-Paul, it means that the
word is out that the Paul bandwagon is leaving the station and
there's limited time left to get on it.
I sincerely hope that Gillespie, who has written eloquently about
the importance of immigration in his own family's history, never
becomes a Ron Paul cheerleader. As a journalist, I hope that he
shines a light on both the good and bad aspects of Ron Paul.
I agree with Lamar: Ransberger pivot, and (politically) cross-dress those positions.
Shut-up, Gillespie, you libertine pinhead. I'm cutting your
mic.
I like when he gets all fired up and calls people names in baby
talk, like "pinhead."
I really think that having Nick on Fox is very convenient for Fox. While Nick may say all sorts of good stuff on Ron, Billy O will paint Ron Paul as a libertine by inviting a libertine on the show to speak well of Ron. So, Nick, you do not have to be nice on Ron Paul. Please distance yourself from him. Please.
Sorry Gillespie. I don't watch Fox News anymore.
I do plan on watching Larry King though.
crimethink-
This is how Billy O will paint Nick. I really really like Nick
Gillespie, by the way. Libertine or no libertine.
Ali, I don't think that's possible in 5 minutes or however long
he generally gives to adversarial guests. In any case, I think it's
insane for someone who isn't pushing the same agenda O'Reilly is to
even appear on his show.
On the other hand, I'd love to see Dave Weigel or Kerry Howley go
on The Factor. While Sullum and Gillespie have done a good job of
tweaking Bill in their appearances, I think the young'uns need to
be given a chance as well.
This is how Billy O will paint Nick.
Not much you can do about that. Just wait for the pauses in idiocy
and try to snipe a shot of wisdom in when you can...
The Sullum appearance with Bill O is seriously some of the
funniest shit that's ever been on TV. Weigel or Howley on it would
be almost too much to handle.
It must happen.
yeah... will see... there goes... I am turning on Fox for the first time in ages (probably since hannity was telling us all how rigged the phone vote was after the debates)
Ali: I saw that, because happy with personal life = happy with state of the nation and thats why congress gets such great approval ratings :P
And the award for the first use of brown people in a two-minutes
hate commercial:
John McCain!
Come on up, ya old coot...
Ali: Yeah, mostly!
and this McCain ad is fucking ridiculous. Holy fuck. These morons
think its good?? McCain has experience?
On the McCain ad: Funny how Egypt managed to quell the terrorism
of the 80s and 90s without having to invade other nations. Oh, and
they also sent the US information before 9/11 regarding the
attacks. May be the US should learn something from Egypt. Unless
they (McCain et al.) really do not want to.
Here goes our man!
Gillespie did well. Any lesser person would have stood up, unzipped his pants and said, "O'Reilly, just STFU and suck my ... ."
I'm drinking, and Gillespie rocked him today, being the
intellectual buffer between two party spin-artists and a Rosie
O'Donnell segment.
When Nick retires, you should hang the leather jacket in a glass
case at the office...
Wow...nice Nick...I never watch O'R because he never let's anyone else talk. How did Nick get in that many points?
Nicely Done!
Ron Paul, he's catchin' on!
And O'Reilly can't stop the smear, even when he can't defend
himself!
Never heard of you before, but I'm a recent "convert" to Libertarianism. You did a good job on O'Reilly and didn't let him bully you like so many others do. I've added you to my blogroll and look forward to learning more about the movement. http://thewritersjourney.wordpress.com
Nice Nick!
O'Reilly finally couldn't get a word in. You did a great job on
hitting your points! Your position sounded very reasonable.
Nick, you did a great job; intelligent, respectful but firm, Bill looked like a fool. Now I know why I never watch 'The Factor' since listening to O'Reilly is so dreadful.
Good job Nick, O'Reilly came off as combative and irrational and you stayed calm and logical. Also you didn't burst out laughing when he sarcastically said "reason magazine"
Anyone stick around to watch the tool that followed Nick...explaining how we will have to strategically counter Al Q for the remainder of our lifetimes? How does being a retired Lt.Col. make you an expert?...did they run out of all the armchair quarterbacking generals that used to be everywhere??
I didn't see the interview (no TV), but I take it Gillespie
followed the advice offered in this article?
http://www.slate.com/id/2107110/
toddb-- If things stay the way they are, I think the Islamic jihadist as enemies will fade out 1/2 complete, but will be a fad, and then we'll move on to a new thing. I dunno, but I am putting $100 on Hindu/Sikh extremism. After all, the Sikh extremists did kill hundreds of Canadians. Plus they can also be confused with Muslims.
Welcome, pull up a chair. Mind the trolls...
Actually there are only two of them. You'll figure them out without
anyone telling you in a day or two at most.
Ali,
You know that the Hindofascists (tm) hate Canadians for their great
winter sports.
...and you know India has nuclear weapons that could fall into the hands of Hindofascists (tm)...when do we get the war started!
... once the Islamofascism becomes a broken record and OBL finds another media gig. The tapes thing is getting a bit routinish.
I thought Ron Paul was going to be on Larry King. Ron Paul confirmed in a talk at Iowa.
Hey, I thought Paul was on Larry King? WTF? Who is this motivational speaker bitch?
Hey, I thought Paul was on Larry King? WTF? Who is this
motivational speaker bitch?
Who somehow thinks that Obama and Hill are great for the
economy!
"Why is oil so high? Is the government going to do
something?"
OK, disappointed, going to Survivorman.
Good she just she wants a democrat... sheeshh... good no repub is going to listen to her. If anything, out of disgust, hopefully, they would change mind on G and McC. Now I like her. Thank you for the service you made for repubs (minus G and McC).
Some random blogs are saying it might be for the last half hour, but I think it might be a hoax.
You learned everything you needed to know about her when she said people have to be forced to do things that are good for them when explaining why she liked Obama, then Hillary...that's the official Dem party line isn't it?
That was impressive, Nick. We all appreciate you suffering that time with that ass to give libertarianism some more decent face time with the people.
And this lady's a blithering idiot.
I just put her on mute. Hopefully, I will catch Ron Paul's face if
he actually shows up.
I've run into Bill O'Reilly when I was out and about
before.
I can tell you that he is very thin (or he was) and that he really
is every bit as much of a loud obnoxious fuckface as you would
think he would be. It's not an act.
RP site has Larry King Live under upcoming events for Jan 2 and links to the LKL site, but nothing there about Paul.
Suze Orman...never heard of her until tonight, but what a
surprise!...her educational background is a BA in Social Work form
Univ of IL. That explains the "people have to be forced to do what
is good for them" point of view!
Maybe I could get on Larry King as a financial expert...at least I
have a masters in econ...nah, overqualified.
Excellent work Nick. Looks like someone's been studying up on the O'Reilly playbook.
I love this from Widipedia...
"On a recent Oprah, Orman advised viewers to search through their
closets for misplaced money."
OK...I'm writing a financial advice book right now!
Thanks, Chris, I think Nick did a good job in a situation where he was sandbagged. Not that RP didn't say those things, instead, O'Reilly's mission was to kneecap RP on national TV. Better to do it while Nick was there than not.
Arrested him for passing bad checks...should have arrested him for that shirt...
Well, clearly not on Larry...
Not sure what happened here, but apparently the Ron Paul
campaign was mistaken in saying that Ron Paul would be on Larry
King tonight. That is unless Ron Paul's real name is Suze Orman and
he decided to become a clueless personal financial expert who wants
to vote for Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton because she wants her
same sex partner to have equal rights, because it's obvious that
Obama and Clinton would provide that. Wow that was a horrible run
on sentence. In any case, Ron Paul does not appear to be on the
show tonight. Odd. (source)
I'm kind of gruesomely fascinated by this Suze Orman
interview...I'm pretty sure (multitasking/half listening) she just
advised someone to liquidate stocks that have been averaging 12%
return to pay off credit card debt at 4% if the debt was making her
"feel" bad. Now, that's some good advice!
...must start writing that book...
Paul camp says he was interviewed today, but it'll be a part of a larry king segment tomorrow.
toddb- you heard it right! She advised another person to
actually not pay and let the credit card company take her to court,
where they won't get a penny either. She's a crook.
... all along I was thinking: OK here is what it boils down to--
people give their money to wall street to invest it (and
essentially people getting only the crumbs back), at the same time
borrowing from credit card companies and build a huge debt. It is
like a zero sum game!
Well, ole Suze has at least an honest bone in her body...caller just asked about what effect RP's call for end of Fed and return to gold would have on the economy and her answer was..."I have no idea"...followed by some excuse about not wasting her time trying to understand things with zero chance of coming to pass. Isn't that the position of all of the Prez candidates?
toddc- I missed that bit, but
followed by some excuse about not wasting her time trying to
understand things with zero chance of coming to pass. Isn't that
the position of all of the Prez candidates?
Yes, if we give them the benefit of the doubt. If we do not, they
are in for the Fed for a good reason.
After watching O'Reilly, you people can still doubt that the devil planted dinosaur bones to deceive us?
I too just watched Larry King for no reason. Or so I thought.
Then she made that horribly arrogant and crass comment about Ron
Paul and I realised I watched so I know I should never ever buy
anything of hers.
I loved how she spent so much time complaining about the estate
taxes (not just the unfairness of married vs. partners) yet clearly
supports candidates that want to take more and more from everyone
to redistribute to others "in need".
O'Reilly used to be provocative. Now he appears a
buffoon.
B.O'R. always was a buffoon, even when he hosted A Current
Affair...
This was perhaps the best performance I have seen on Bill
O.
Even most of ronpaulforums is pretty happy with Nick. If you know
anything about ronpaulforums, about 90% of the people there ATTACK
just about every positive mention of Ron Paul and nitpick every
little detail down to breathing technique, body language, etc.
I'm sure someone there will be upset that Nick didnt sound like he
was ejaculating when he mentioned Ron Paul's name.
Suze Orman owes all of her success to having developed the ability to hypnotize viewers with her eyes.
Suze orman IS actually fairly good on some persona finance
issues. She is not an economist or political pundit.
Her dismissal of the Fed question was nothing personal against Ron
Paul.
Hell, how many peopl here actually think there is ANY chance that:
1. Ron Paul will be elected AND 2. He will dismantle the Fed and
bring bac the Gold Standard?
I dont worry about Martians raping me in my sleep either.
PBS is playing a good documentary on Andrew Jackson and the "Monster Bank" and slavery. I pay a ton for CNN, while PBS is available for free and seem to know speak about (haven't watched the whole thing though). Something is wrong.
Great quote by Jackson when he opposed "prostitution of our government to the advancement of the few at the expense of the many." Prostitution of the government? Whatchma he talking about?
Johncjackson,
I certainly wasn't saying she was slamming Paul. If you noticed, I
gave her credit for being honest. Actually, I've always thought
monetary policy was some of the tougher stuff to really get your
arms around.
That being said, wasn't impressed by Suze...I'm pretty sure her
books are full of gems like "buy low, sell high".
Gotta go check my closets for misplaced money...
Thanks for dressing up there, Gillespie. T-shirt and leather jacket, are you trying to say you're the rebel faction or what? Oh and thanks for throwing out "Strippers for Ron Paul". That's going to win over a lot of converts! That interview was hot garbage. IF you want Paul's message to get through to people, why don't you think a little more about presentation.
Nick,
Great job on O'Reilly tonight. Bill was actually humbled by your
words. Way to go!
Pete
Excellent work, Nick! I think you actually got the majority of the airtime and O'Reilly didn't give a B.S. postlogue smear job after your segment like he usually does.
Thanks for dressing up there, Gillespie. T-shirt and leather
jacket, are you trying to say you're the rebel faction or what? Oh
and thanks for throwing out "Strippers for Ron Paul". That's going
to win over a lot of converts! That interview was hot garbage. IF
you want Paul's message to get through to people, why don't you
think a little more about presentation.
You must be new here.
I am watching Huck on Leno now. The best part of it is.... The really good Ron Paul ad in the break!
I'm sure someone there will be upset that Nick didnt sound
like he was ejaculating when he mentioned Ron Paul's
name.
As icky as that visual is, it may well be a thread winner.
Drink.
Go Ron Paul u can win! Don't give up! make sure u r president! by the way u r strong oh yah and u gotta love the little badges that say Ron Paul. Good luck, the house blonde!
nick gillespie was very good on the show talking about the nomination for president and remember vote no to more and higher taxes. lets hope Ron Paul gets the nomination. good job nick the wincommonsewer will say that too.
Well done Nick. you did a nice job on the show. Good points were made. As a subscriber to your magazine, I was proud.
@John V
So tell us - what exactly do you think Nick Gillespie owes you? Oh,
nothing? That's what I thought.
You're welcome to go on O'Reilly's show and present yourself anyway
you like. Gillespie doesn't represent anyone but himself, and isn't
pretending he does.
the one thing i like about suze orman - aside from her
hypnofrog-esque eyes - is that she's consistent in her mantra of
"don't fucking buy crap you don't need."
obvious? yes.
sadly needed? yes.
Nick did good, considering it was O'Reilly.
I'm not an advocate of total disengagement, but RP and Nick have a
point - a certain amount of the $10 bn we've given Musharraf has
gone directly to broker "cease fires" with some of the selfsame
warlords suspected of being involved in the Bhutto
assassination.
From my reading, Baitullah Mehsud was given suitcases full of cash
in 2005 to pay off his group's debt to AL QAEDA in exchange for not
shooting at Pakistani Army troops. They promptly broke off the
agreement and resumed their violent hijinks.
Reilly mispronounced "Bhutto"
And "hegemony."
Then he went and used the word "poltroon" about a dozen times in
half a minute.
Someone really should take that Word-A-Day calendar away from
him.
