Sen.
John McCain raised $11.2 million from April through June, $1.3
million less than he raised in the first three months of the year.
Less than a month ago he was predicting he'd beat that quarter
one total. Probable explanation: The money dried up during the
base-infuriating immigration fight.
Terry Nelson said the campaign is now considering accepting federal matching funds.
Cites a "difficult fundraising environment" for Republicans as well as McCain taking "principled stands" on such issues as immigration and campaign finance reform.
Federal. Matching. Funds. It's like watching the baby carriage
tumble down the Odessa steps.
Ryan Sager (from whom I stole the "Death Watch" title) has
more, including the fact that McCain only has 72,000 donors.
For every two McCain donors there are seven Obama donors.
UPDATE: McCain only has $2 million in the bank.

McCain taking "principled stands" on such issues as
immigration and campaign finance reform.
Scare quotes may be overused, but sometimes they're essential. It
takes a lot of chutzpah to call a ban on non-establishment speech
during a political campaign a "principled stand".
Probable explanation: The money dried up during the
base-infuriating immigration fight.
Actual explanation: Republicans, with 72,000 exceptions,
reciprocate McCain's hatred for them.
McCain taking "principled stands" on such issues as
immigration and campaign finance reform.
I imagine the spokeswonk actually using finger quotes while saying
this.
John said this was never about the money! He doesn't need the money he has name recognition!
At this point, Lil Scrappy probably might even have more money in the bank than the McCain campaign.
It's like watching the baby carriage tumble down the Odessa steps.
More like watching Charles Foster McKane's snow globe fall from his
hand and break.
Federal. Matching. Funds.
Jesus. Fucking. Christ.
Friends don't let friends write stupid.
It is a principled stand. His principles may be wildly insane, but principles they are.
The Odessa steps? McCain was tortured by commies and you have to
invoke a commie movie to illustrate his downfall?
Bye bye, gramps--you were a real hero in your time, but that time
has long passed.
Current Dream:
...to see McCain get all drunk on inauguration day and try to take
a swing at Ron Paul while he is being sworn in...
McCain taking "principled stands" on such issues as
immigration and campaign finance reform.
At least he seems to have gotten the money out of the John McCain
political campaign.
Hoist on his own petard.
Hey -- what happened to Ron Paul's millions? I thought that was supposed to be one of the great political stories of the summer...?
JKP they haven't' reported the numbers yet, they have until July 15th I believe
I think its over for McCain. I actually think they might nominate Romney for Pete's sake. Then we get to choose between the two worst, fakest phoney candidates out there: Mitt and Hillary...Holy Sh&t.
Then we get to choose between the two worst, fakest phoney
candidates out there
Actually, you get to choose between them.
We just have to live with your choice.
Thank you so much.
Mike P, my conscience is clear;
I always vote, but never vote for evil, even when it is the least
of the choices. I do this by writing in "None of the Above" on
every office on the ballot.
I just wish my countrymen would realize that they don't have to
vote for any of these lunatics to vote against the others.
Two years without a president, congress, governor and state
legislature would be wonderful.
