They're just making the music that Lonewacko won't make.

Thanks for a very good interview. I desperately love music of all kinds, and there's no one/no group I love more than Los Lobos.

Yes, thanks for a great interview!
Where I went to college in the late 80s, I had several friends who worked in a student organization that booked all the music shows that appeared on campus. They did everything from stadium shows with the Stones down to obscure bands playing 100 seat auditoriums.
With all that exposure to the rock stars of the day, it was always fun to ask my friends which stars were the best and worst to deal with. I remember they unanimously named Los Lobos as their favorites, because (i) they played fantastic shows that went hours past their commitment; and (ii) they were the nicest, most low maintenance, regular guys anybody had ever met.

"They're just making the music that Lonewacko won't make."
No they're making music that Ron Paul and 80 percent of the America won't make.
One more time. Importing millions of poor people with a welfare state in place only grows government. Ron Paul knows it and so did Milton Friedman.

i was pretty young when their cover of La Bamba was big - and i've never listened to them.
after reading this, i'm definitely intrigued and i'll be sure to check out their music.

DownS:
they had a hit in the mid-to-late 80s called "Shakin Shakin Shakes" with a fun video.

BTW: we were at the game on Sunday and watched Mr. Pujols rocket the ball onto Waveland Ave! Amazing. He is scary good!
StL has a great lineup (on paper). Shore up the pitching, and you've the makings of some excellent years! And Isringhausen was a total can against the cubbies - for a change. The StL fans around us likened him to Mark Prior etc. Kinda funny.
Man. What a shot. Boom! the ball was gone. Amazing. hrumph.
(was a fun, intense game, tho)

* tip of hat to VM *
I don't know much about Los Lobos, except that they have several good tracks on the soundtrack CD for the movie Desperado. (Good soundtrack.)

Million thanks, Mr. Balko, for spotlighting a really great band. It was Kiko that turned me into a fan. When I first heard "Dream in Blue" at a print shop in Chicago, I asked the 20-something behind the counter what band that was on the sound system. I still remember the cold, viscious "They've recorded OTHER SONGS, you know" look he gave me when he stated Los Lobos, and I replied, "Oh, the La Bamba guys?"
