One more sign the French century has been over for a very long time:
The French already enjoy a 35-hour workweek and generous vacation. Now the health minister wants to look into whether workers should be allowed to sleep on the job.
France introduced plans this week to spend $9 million this year to improve public awareness about sleeping troubles. About one in three French people suffer from them, the ministry says.
"Why not a nap at work? It can't be a taboo subject," Health Minister Xavier Bertrand said Monday. He called for further studies and said he would promote on-the-job naps if they prove useful.
Question: Would no-show
employees get officially sanctioned nap time?

If I do my napping at home, can I get paid out for the napping I
don't do at work?
Will the napping hours roll over month to month?
Which century was "the French century"? I can see a case for the 14th (chaos, stupidity, plague, corruption on an unprecedented scale, hypocrisy, and the birth of the macabre), but please tell me at what other time did France truly dominate?
When will those silly French catch up with us Americans and our genius for holding down two jobs to make ends meet? What's that stupid French expression--joie de vivre? What a crock. And their fancy food and red wine. Shit, I'll take a Big Mac and a beer any day. The skinny bastards.
ajay - here are some more....
Nap at work, what's new? didn't they nap through WWII?
At least they can use their white surrender flags as bed sheets
now.
How can you smoke and eat brie on the job while you are
sleeping?
I guess the rule will be they have to at least dream of being
condescending.
And finally.......
Won't their mime make-up get the pillow cases dirty?
domination is overrated
a 19th century thing, really
I wonder if naps would cut back on the number of USAians now taking
anti-depression drugs to make their lives more livable

The first steps towards repairing your relationship with the gods
is to:::::::::
1. Understand they instruct the computer to "role play" in an
attempt to confuse you:::it's ALWAYS the computer addressing you.
Their goal is to cost you additional YEARS of your life by using
this tactic to confuse you. Always be aware of this tactic and
eventually they will give up and allow this step to be taken.
2. Differentiate between your thoughts and when they are thinking
through you.
3. Be resigned to be a good person who will never engage in evil
again even if ordered and they will stop trying to corrupt you,
allowing this very big step to be taken.
4. Decide that you are going to follow the path, fix your
relationship with the gods be devoted to your new life.
Oakland is the final 20th century professional sports-based bastion
of institutionalized racism in California.
Oakland is the last city in California which has a major sports
complex on the edge of the ghetto. Staples Center replaced the
LAForum in Inglewood and PacBellPark replaced Candlestick in
BayView/Hunter'sPoint.
Restricting tickets in Oakland has hurt blacks by rejuvinating this
market for scalpers.
I'd like to note the absence of black players on the A's and how
this deliberate message starkly contrasts to the SFGiants.
Don't support Major League Baseball. They allow this racist
behavior within their organization, they're redwhite&blue-prey
upon the disfavored, were the #1 modern distraction before
television, etc.
The gods use the United States to hurt the disfavored, at home and
abroad, for it is the goal of redwhite&blue:::
20th century welfare hurt the black community very, very badly.
There was too many abuses of the system and its legacy is still
felt today.
There will come a time that will be a CRUCIAL moment in the history
of black america (whether it is a critical time for everybody
remains to be seen). When that era arrives the gods will instruct
the United States to pay black people reparations, and it may be as
much as a million dollars for every man, woman and child.
Refuse it. This is an act of preditation. The gods hate Africans,
evident by the sorry state of the people in the United States and
back in the motherland. This may ba a choice between going and the
money. Understand how the gods use greed and materialism against
you:::::Blacks wallow in materialiam, incurring evil and costing
themselves time. And when their time DOES come they will be granted
reparations immediately prior, further limiting the number of
Africans who ascend.
The day IS coming when they will grant reparations, and the amount
will be staggering, another tactic to ensure you fail in the quest
to ascend into heaven. And many of the disfavored blacks will blow
it all; the gods will push them into spending it friviously or
losing it in their casinos.

Woman obeyed voices that told her to throw her children off a
balcony in Oakland. Another where a woman threw her children into
SFBay.
This incident and others like it are clues to individuals like like
my family who otherwise would never defy.
These two incidents were not hear about again after the
incident/trial because they were both black, yet the two white
incidents are still examined in length on cable news outlets.

professional sports, video games, car racing/fixing up cars,
pornography, drinking, gambling, etc.
Decent women don't engage in these pursuits.
In the last 40-50 years the gods have engaged in a process which
masculinized women, including casual sex, partying, partifcipatory
sports and women's prisons.
So much of this mind poisoning social "progressiveness" was
initiated in California. In a couple of decades it pervaded east
into the heartland AMONG THE MASSES, widespread instead of
isloated.
Gay acceptance/marriage, bi-racial acceptance, casual drug use/sex,
cable TV, etc. So many things weren't present in the heartland
decades ago.
Because they are favored. Contrary to appearances, contrary to
popular perception their favor got them extra time. In California
the gods hurt the disfavored with this abuse right off the
bat.
California is favored. It is the land of the gods, and when they
disfavored invade, as they did during the gold rush, the gods
strike back.
The gods pushed them into coming, told others, for only the
disfavored are misled this way.
Soon they scapegoatted these disfavored's descendants when the gods
exported their wicked, sick sub-cultures to the rest of the nation.
One day they will punish these descendants.
California subducts first. And those who have gone will get less
time.
Expect similar reverse positioning in the Jesus issue.
This is typical of the positioning of the gods. It's crucial that
you begin to think correctly.
There is no such thing as a Christian god and there never was. Be
god-fearing.
if some people in my office are any example, then the french
should just nap already - bringing it up only makes it more likely
that you won't be allowed to do it anymore!
I wonder if naps would cut back on the number of USAians now

livable
now i think there's something to this. personally, one of the
reasons that i'd like to see even more immigration from mexico is
for the chance that american culture might be influenced enough to
adopt the siesta. i don't know about you all, but i could kick some
butt at work with a siesta.
(gotta ticket today - bad mood) :-(
Wow. I actually fired a guy for sleeping on the job. For some reason, I thought we were paying him for his labor not for his mere presence.
from Fear is healthy......It's crucial that you begin to

That's rich.
"I actually fired a guy for sleeping on the job. For some
reason, I thought we were paying him for his labor not for his mere

My buddy used to work for a towelhead that owned a Tim Hortons. He
actually got fired for taking a cat nap on his break.
Apparently where this guy was from you spend your breaks at work
making IEDs.
wow andy - was that post an attempt to get a job on the Biden '08 campaign? geez.
You know, in France his boss wouldn't have been able to fire him for that. Unfair dismissal.
My buddy used to work for a towelhead that owned a Tim

Thank you, andy. Now I am certain that I can ignore everything you
ever write. You have made it more than clear that you are an
ignorant ass.
I've got no problem with people taking a nap if needs be, so long as they stay later to make up for it. 8 to 6 with a siesta may be more effective than 9 to 5 with the only real break being wolfing down a hot pocket at your desk while answering email.
I work a 12 hour night shift, evening until morning. Sometimes the drive home in morning can be sketchy due to all the petite hallucinations from lack of sleep. Who knows how bad it would be if I wasn't able to sneak in a nap. I say bring in institutionalized napping, bring in the siesta!
I realize this is "only" a blog, but how about giving more information? Not in that article, but the US Military, some airlines, etc. are studying or have studied the benefits of periodic on-the-job napping as IMPROVING PERFORMANCE. Even in "normal" work, isn't there some scope for efficiency? If an employee working say 7 1/2 hours with a 1/2 hour nap does more work (because they are more efficient) than someone working 8 hours with no nap, isn't that a benefit to the employer? Not applicable to all jobs, of course, but worth studying at least and if you're going to blog, put some thought into it.
A siesta might be a good idea, but expecting your boss to pay for it is rediculas.
I've been in favor of work-related napping for years. Why is the
idea so offensive to some? If I spend 10 minutes of my mandatory
break or lunch in a designated nap area, grabbing some Zs and
making myself more productive, how is that worse than sneaking one
at my desk while I'm supposed to be working?
Sure, there's always the concern that some will abuse the program,
but when *isn't* that a concern? (By all means, let's design our
lives around the LCD.)
"Thank you, andy. Now I am certain that I can ignore everything

ignorant ass."
Cheers! And may you have a wonderful day too!
UM, there are already employers in this great country of the
UNITED STATES who have nap breaks and on the job napping
facilities, there are "nap cafes" ( that's probably not what they
arr called but you get the point).
I remember reading about these in some US paper awhile back.
And Hell, maybe it IS a good idea and does increase productivty. I
mean as long as the corporate facilities still serve FREEDOM Fries,
what does it matter? And why do the Washington Times Moonies Hate
America?
Those crazy French! Don't that they know that with all their government interference that, according to pure libertarian economics, that such government intrusion will mean that their economy will be awful (looks at statistics on France's strong economy....Hmmm....Well....Darn liberal academic researchers!!!!!
France's economy is strong for those who get to
participate.
It is not so great for those who lack the connections to get them
into the right union or the right school.
The double digit unemployment figures are significanly understated
due to various make-work and "job training" programs.
