Watched the Democratic candidate Al Weed concede to Virgil Goode in VA's 5th District. Lost by about 20 points. Weed argued that his fight aimed to build an activist cadre for the 2009 state elections to make sure that redistricting went the right way in 2010. I particularly enjoyed it when Weed introduced his all-American family--Vietnamese wife, his gay bi-racial daugther and her partner whom he referred to as his daughter-in-law and he sent a message to his son who is in the military in Baghdad. Disappointingly, but not surprisingly, the stupid anti-gay marriage amendment has passed. We left before the results have been announced in the Webb/Allen contest. Fingers still crossed for truly divided government.

Was anyone else amused by the Goode/Weed race?
