President Bush: "I know many Americans are not satisfied with the situation in Iraq. I'm not satisfied either. And that is why we're taking new steps to help secure Baghdad and constantly adjusting our tactics across the country to meet the changing threat."
Rove predicted the Republicans would retain control of Congress, discounting polls that show the Democrats threatening to take over.
"You heard it here first," Rove declared in his interview with Fox News Radio.
Actually, you heard it here first. I can already hear "Mandate!" ringing in my right ear and "Diebold!" ringing in my left.

We have got to stay the course, no matter what the cost. We have got to get all of the Iraqi terrorists who were responsible for 9-11. They have links that the Al Kaida was sponsored by Sodom Hussein.
Tim, if the Dems do win, will you be sitting in front of a plate with words on it?
I still don't know what they mean when they say "victory".
They stopped talking seriously about defeating the insurgency,
instead they say it's up to the Iraqis.
What a stupid policy it would be to bet American clout on whether
or not the Iraqi army can do what we have been incapable of
doing.
At face value, to claim the Iraqis can do something we can't, means
they are better than us at that task. Which of course, is not
true.
You would think the right-winger pundits would take that to task
and ask the obvious question.
Are we setting ourselves up for failure?
You'd figure that 6 years ought to be enough to effectively sort
out the whole Diebold issue... unless of course, you really don't
want it resolved.
Like tax protesters who insist that the 16th Amendment wasn't
properly ratified, (and ignore all evidence and court decisions to
the contrary) to avoid having to accept that paying income taxes is
required by law, the losing side after the election will insist
that the outcome was rigged (see Mexico), to avoid having to accept
that the majority of the country doesn't share their political
views.
Trickyvic: The Iraqis had better be better than us at ruling Iraq. Otherwise there was no point in the invasion in the first place.
What's Rove going to say?
"We suck. We're going to lose. I miss Jeff Gannon."
One the one hand you've got gerrymandering and the uncanny ability
of Democrats to lose over and over. On the other hand, Republicans
from Bush on down are as popular as that food poisoning you get on
cruise ships where you evacuate violently from both ends of the
digestive tract. Hard to say. I say the Dems will careen
uncontrollably into a narrow victory in da House.
Politically, this is too little, too late. I'm still predicting
only a minor majority for the Dems in the House (by three or four
seats, five at the most), but they will take over regardless.
Bush didn't offer many specifics here. He's just expressing
"concern" and throwing out a vague vow to change... well,
something. Voters want more than that. Why shouldn't they?
Yeah. Republicans will keep control for sure. It reminds me of
the Simpsons episode where Bart ran for class president and had
everyone's vote, but, since everyone thought he was going to win,
no one voted and Martin won with two votes.
Not only that, but great campaigning as well!
(Anti-Bart sign) "A vote for Bart is a vote for anarchy!"
(Pro-Bart sign) "A vote for Bart is a vote for anarchy!"
"He says there are no easy answers! I say, he's not looking hard
enough!"
"SEX! Now that I have your attention....Vote Bart!"
"We demand MORE asbestos! MORE ASBESTOS!"
I think it's quite easy to insert some different vocabulary and
recreate current campaign ideas.
I never get sick of seing loser lefties disapointed with the
election results.
They sicken me and I don't think there's anything that Republicans
can do to make me hate them more than these human hating,
enviornmental friendly, multi cultural loving, smug, income
redistributing, smoking banning, masochstic, koran kissing, loser
sypathizing, affirmative action supporting, pusher of identity
politics liberals.
I hope republicans gain even more seats just so I can go to
Democraticunderground.com and hear them bitch about how unfair the
world is. You should've seen it after the last election. Talks of
succession, moving to Canada and the return of Nazism. Another
Republican victory and they'll lose their tentative grip on
sanity.
You've got to love people so desperate for something to believe in
that they lionize Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean. I'm serious. Have a
shot of whiskey tonight and go to Democraticunderground.com. You'll
be glad that you did.
And vote Republican
"""Trickyvic: The Iraqis had better be better than us at ruling

I agree that they better be, but so far the Iraqi government is not
doing a good job, primarily as a result of the security situation.
Our failure to secure the country is the root of all problems,
except corruption.
Of course, I was talking defeating the insurgence in my previous
post not governing.

Are you talking about Democrat or Republican liberals?
I also have to point out that you can't be human hating and
multi-cultural loving at the same time. If your a human hater you
won't care about their culture.
FYI many Republican support smoking bans. The fine Republican
Govenor of Arkansas wants to ban smoking in cars.
Maybe your just upset that the Republicans no longer support your
ideology and your trying to take it out on the liberals.
"The Iraqis had better be better than us at ruling Iraq.

They were better.
Until we got there.
It always surprises me how so many different people can come to
H&R and read their own ideology into the writing *cough cough
Grand Chalupa cough*.
I guess that means there can't really be slant in political
writing, just reading. Also see, for instancce, the opposite
accusations against the rightist or leftist media.
Yeah, they had an iron fisted ruler who knew the way to a man's
heart is through his daughter's genitals.
See what happens when you're too nice to some people?
Concerning the President's quote there: If the president is reduced to meddling about with tactics, that's your problem right there, man.
Bush talks about changing tactics when asked about his strategy,
because he's counting on the public not knowing the
difference.
Um, yeah. (Stay the Course) + (Position the Squad Automatic Rifle a
little fruther to the left when retaking a village captured by the
Madhdi Army) = Teh Victory!
Republicans: they campaign on the idea that government doesn't work, and then they get elected and prove it.
Chalupa's right, few things are better in life than watching loserville the day after elections. Sadly, few things are worse in life than watching Democrats gloat after winning elections. And I didn't know you are supposed to identify with the nuts around here to post, pintofstout.
I also have to point out that you can't be human hating and
multi-cultural loving at the same time. If your a human hater you
won't care about their culture.
I take it back, far leftists only hate humans who live in
successful societies that are prosperous and based on the rule of
law. Live like an animal and they've got no problem with you.
Maybe your just upset that the Republicans no longer support
your ideology and your trying to take it out on the
liberals.
No, I'd hate liberals regardless.

I'm not reading anything into anything. The post was somewhat in
jest. I'm divided whether to root for the party farther away from
moveon.org or for divided government.
Being able to watch the loonies lose all hope in their miserable
lives is the tie breaker, for me at least.
"Being able to watch the loonies lose all hope in their

I guess since you have obviously lost hope in your own life, you
might as well enjoy watching others do it.

And if I was a leftist, petty, pathetic attacks like this would
warrant a response. Next time, throw in Haliburton and Diebold and
Osama in there for good measure.
