Sara Evans, Republican, country music star, Dancing with the Stars competitor and -- more to the point --Tom DeLay's not-so-secret weapon for inspiring "good American values" in the reality-TV watching public, has filed for a good American divorce. She's also pulling out of the competition. E! has the sordid details:
According to the petition filed in Williamson County, Tennessee, Schelske was keeping a stash of porn on his computer, including at least 100 pictures depicting him fully nude and several showing him engaged in sex with other women.
Says her soon-to-be ex, a former GOP Senatorial Candidate:
"I have made the decision to forgive Sara for the unfortunate campaign that she and her publicity advisers are currently waging."
I feel more American already. The worst part for Hammer fans? Jerry Springer is still in the game.
DeLay's endorsement here.

Springer comes off great in the show. Very likable.
I don't see how Sara's husband cheating on her has any bearing on
her own wholesomeness, or whatever DeLay wants to call it.
If anything, it reinforces the GOP point that people are pigs and
society needs rules.
I had the pleasure of attending a taping of Dancing with the Stars last week, which, unbeknownst to the viewing public, was the last go 'round for Ms. Evans. I can report that her dancing was unenthusiastic and that she is quite thick around the mid-section.
What I loved was the allegation that he was keeping "Craig's Lists" on his computer.
"I have made the decision to forgive Sara for the
unfortunate campaign that she and her publicity advisers are
currently waging."
Translaton: Damn, it sucks that I got caught.
If anything, it reinforces the GOP point that people are
pigs and society needs rules.
Wait, isn't that the Dem's point, too?
i agree with the above poster. how does this reflect badly on
sara evans? not at all. this thread is the kind of bogus
shadenfreude that libertarians love to use against repubs. if
anything bad, unseemly, etc. happens to a repub, or by a repub,
this is somewhow an indictment of their values, or makes them a
hypocrite. first of all, as far as i know, SHE did nothing wrong.
Second of all, believing in set of values (x) does not mean that
one will necessarily be immune from violating those
standards.
but this is an easy slag for libertarians to make, since so many
who confuse libertarianism with libertinism, essentially think
libertarianism means that any moral criticism is somehow GOVERNMENT
ENCROACHMENT.
so sara evans husband sounds like a twerp? how is this relevant to
sara evans and her republican ideals?
From the E! re-cap of the court filing:
"On his computers husband maintains 'Craigs Lists'," documents
state. "Many of them involve requests for three party and anal sex.
Husband's 'Craigs Lists' are composed of personal ads on his
personal sex engine involving him and prospective sex
partners."
Apparently Ms. Evan's has a pretty dumb divorce lawyer. My guess is
that they found a bunch of "casual encounters" ads in the IE
history and assumed the "craig" in question was her husband. Ah to
be the opposing lawyer - the "personal sex engine" bit is
great.
THE jerry springer??...the one who paid for a hooker which
then bounced?
Actually, the hooker didn't bounce, she just kinda went squish.
Remember, it was Sara's husband being the hypocrite, not Sara
herself. (Which could be why they're divorcing.)
I feel bad for her. I'm a left-leaning Libertarian, and I agree
that the GOP is showing once again that when they point the finger
at the rest of America, they point three back at their freaky
selves. But I love her music, and I'm reminded of other people who
went through terrible divorces.
