An Interfaith Drug Policy Initiative in Nevada gets 32 churches--"mostly in Las Vegas and Reno, includes Christians and Jews, mainline denominations and several black churches"--to come out in favor of the state's Question 7 ballot initiative, which would legalize marijuana possession, use, and transfer for over-21-year-olds (and under an ounce of the weed).

I heard about that Wednesday or Thursday morning, and the cops were already on the media saying something like, "those churches may have the best intentions, but they just don't understand how dangerous marijuana can be." This state (NV) is so cop friendly that these churches' statements will be ignored.

When the Drug Policy Alliance informally polled Nevada Police Chiefs and Sheriffs in 2002 they found a majority favored that years initiative.
After the DPA announced the results of their poll not a single one would would say publicly that he was in favor.

Let's see, you got a lot of old people going to NV to spend their retirement, and they can't even get the medicine they need to stave off Alzheimer's? That ain't right.
