The citizens of the breakaway republic of Grylliade - insightful Hit and Run commenters all - are having a get-together this Saturday. Here's the invite:
Come celebrate our nation's birthday with people who remember what inalienable rights are!
Join posters thoreau, Mr. Nice Guy, mk, coelakanth, grylliade, Ellie, Sandy, linguist, and Reason staffers ........ at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 1 at The Big Hunt (1345 Connecticut Ave. NW). Ask for the "H&R/Grylliade" party.
By decree of the organizers, all conversational disagreements shall be settled the old-fashioned way: billiards.
Nothing says "celebrating America" like a bar full of terrifying kitsch from the scramble for Africa.

Lucky Bar was our first choice but they said they wouldn't have
room for us.
Anyway, we have a private patio, tiki bar, pool table. Please come
if you can!
Thanks for posting that, David. Will any of you staffers be in
attendance?
I won't; I'm in Los Angeles and then Idaho until the 5th of July. But have a great time.
This is nasty, but I just realized that if you say, "The Big Hunt, the Big Hunt, the Big Hunt, the Big Hunt" really, really fast over and over, it sounds like you are harshly dissing a lady.
So, which Reason staffer or staffers will be there?
Or did we scare them all away?
Sigh...Could really use an event like this in the Sacramento (California) area...
What area of Idaho? The panhandle region is quite amazing
this time of year.
Shhhhh... Don't tell anyone.
Shhhhh... Don't tell anyone.
It's too late. Most of California already knows. The wasteland
buffer zone (Nevada) is no longer working properly.
That couldn't possibly have been an old H&R thread. The conversation was polite and respectful.
If y'all are staying late, I may drop by....
If past get-togethers are any indication, then we'll be there late,
Matt. Please stop by!
That couldn't possibly have been an old H&R thread. The
conversation was polite and respectful.
Of course it was, you stupid moron! What the hell is wrong with
you?

Dammit. I was in DC last weekend, and there was NOTHING. Weekend
before, weekend after, sure.
No, I went to DC and all I got was soaked to the skin trying to pay
my respects to Mr. Jefferson.
The new WWII memorial is awfully nice, though. Looks like it was
there all along at the end of the reflecting pool between the
Lincoln and Washington monuments.
Did someone say you'd be whapping each other with cue
sticks?
Only partially. They're not going to full cue.

properly.
Still, we can try to use southern Idaho (additional wasteland) to
keep them from reaching that awful, awful northern Idaho where no
one would ever want to go 'cause it sucks so bad.
Stevo Darkly,
Do you have a vacation coming up pretty soon?
(You may be showing signs. Don't make us have to "intervene.")

bad.
After my first year in Moscow after moving up from Boise (amid the
Southern wasteland), Northern Idaho isn't so ba...this place is
awful; don't come here.
I thought Northern Idaho was where all the AN types hang out
...
Or is that just a rumor to keep out the riff raff?

It's true, but they were bankrupted and lost their big, fancy
compound at Hayden Lake. That's what happens after your guards beat
the shit out of people and you lose a massive lawsuit.

That's good to hear. There was a lot of concern.
Is the little pond with Independence Island still there?
Alright everybody...I just got confirmed with the bar. If you're in town, plese join us!
