Yay to Reason for finding her! I have long wondered how on earth Pasadena/Altadena produced such a unique person. This is not a sci-fi town, Caltech notwithstanding. And a black female sci-fi writer? Huh?
Hardly anyone here had ever heard of her. Her death passed almost unnoticed here in Pasadena. I think there was a reading of excerpts held at a local library or bookstore, which was not widely advertised. The local black screed rag mentioned it (inevitably) in context of her oppression at the hands of whitey. I've never met anyone else here who knew of her or read her work. It's astounding to me that she could be so little known in her home town.
