Dept. of Lost Libertarian Scholarship

Now online: Joseph Stromberg's heretofore hard-to-find 1995 paper, "English Enclosures and Soviet Collectivization: Two Instances of an Anti-Peasant Mode of Development."

Having not read the article (yet), I'm curious whether the author discusses in passing the pre-Stolypin "obshchina" system, as well as Jim Crow measures in the post-bellum U.S.?

Also, does the author discuss the Stolypin reforms?

It's amazing what you can learn, even after spending so much time in the former USSR, from just a quick look online. Thanks much! Maybe I can find some of Bukharin's work and discussion on the NEP in the original Russian...

Robert Nanders,

I suggest as a start into the historiography:

Alan Ball, Russia's Last Capitalists (1987)

Stephen Cohen, Bukharin and the Bolshevik Revolution (1971)
