Having not read the article (yet), I'm curious whether the author discusses in passing the pre-Stolypin "obshchina" system, as well as Jim Crow measures in the post-bellum U.S.?
It's amazing what you can learn, even after spending so much time in the former USSR, from just a quick look online. Thanks much! Maybe I can find some of Bukharin's work and discussion on the NEP in the original Russian...
