Reason readers were not alone in their skepticism of FOX anchor John Gibson's "Have more white babies!" rant. Gibson walked back his comments last night, explaining that he doesn't care what color the newly barefoot-and-pregnant American females are, as long as they're not Muslim.
My concern was simply that I didn't want America to become Europe, where the birth rate is so low the continent is fast being populated by immigrants, mainly from Muslim countries, whose birth rate is very high. That fact was coupled with a news item that said half of all babies in America under five are minorities and the majority of those are Hispanic.
I said, fine, but it was also a good idea if people other than Hispanics also got busy and had more babies. Those people would include both blacks and whites. I suppose Asians, too.
Tip of the hat, as before, to Media Matters.

I suppose Asians, too.
But not the central or southwestern Asians. I mean the nice,
yellow-hued Asians from the east. The ones we shouldn't be buying
cars from and whatnot.
"Those people would include both blacks and whites. I suppose
Asians, too."
Are we sure this isn't from an SNL skit? I mean, no real human
being would actually be that clueless, right?
"My concern was simply that I didn't want America to become

It's not like your ancestors weren't immigrants, Johnny...
Cocksmack.

Really, Gibson is a racist and oughta be fired. It's the welfare state that's the problem, not our aggregate ethnic/religious composition.

Apparently Gibson's married and has just one kid -- a son. I wonder if he'd be willing to lend his wife out (if she's white) for continuous impregnation sessions with some other people of that beige/orangey complexion he sports.
Rick Barton has it precisely.
Gibson sadly may have children. If there's one immutable law of the
universe, it's that even the goofiest-looking fuck in the universe
with brains full of shit can get a woman to squeeze out the fleshy
byproduct of his salty seed.
What a fucking moron.
"How many cocksmacks must Gibson endure?"
I think the server squirrels deserve more!
God!
Let me guess... he loves the idea of
building a wall to keep all of those incorrectly-melaninned folks
out?
But the anti-immigrants aren't racists, oh, no.
So this guy is 60 and has only contributed 1 white child to this country. That's not even replacement level. Methinks he better make some more babies before he criticizes the rest of us.
Just realized whom Gibson reminds me of -- Senator Kelly from the first X-Men movie.
"Should be interesting in a half-Mormon, half-Muslim America in
100 years."
Multiple wives for everyone!
"How many cocksmacks must Gibson endure?"
Let's find out!
One...
Two...
Thuh-Ree!
Everything is OK, I have it on good authority that all mutants are devout Christians.
I can't imagine why liberals think Fox is a Republican mouthpiece, or think that most right wingers are racist with standup guys like this fella on the mic. Must be something wrong with them for thinking that way. Sheeesh
Glen Reynolds has an interesting response to Mr. Gibson at TCS
Daily today. He thinks that the social costs of parenthood have
been higher than the financial ones, and mentions some other things
relevant to the "Baby Blues" thread.
(I still can't do the HTML stuff right to post the link, but the
site is easy to find and navigate. I promise on the Bible and my
Complete Works of Shakespeare to learn this by the end of the
month.)
It's Tom Buchanan!
"Civilization's going to pieces," broke out Tom violently. "I've
gotten to be a terrible pessimist about things. Have you read "The
Rise of the Colored Empires" by this man Goddard?"
"Why, no" I answered, rather surprised by his
tone.
"Well, it's a fine book, and everybody ought to read it. The idea
is if we don't look out the white race will be will be utterly
submerged. It's all scientific stuff; it's been
proved."
[...]
"Well, these books are all scientific" insisted Tom, glancing at
her impatiently. "This fellow has worked out the whole thing. It's
up to us, who are the dominant race, to watch out or these other
races will have control of things."
Are we sure this isn't from an SNL skit?
This year's writers WISH they could be this funny.
Should be interesting in a half-Mormon, half-Muslim America in
100 years.
You forgot half-Catholic.
This comes out the day after Bill O'Reilly declares that we have
to stop the immigration reformers, because they want to overthrow
"this country's white power structure."
I've gotta hand it to Bush, he kept a lid on the Right's racism for
a few years. But now his popularity is down the tubes, and look
what happens.
"This comes out the day after Bill O'Reilly declares that we
have to stop the immigration reformers, because they want to
overthrow 'this country's white power structure.'"
Do you have a link for the quote? I can't find an O'Reilly
transcript that says that (not that I doubt you).
We are going to send suicide bombers to destroy all Infidels who commit apostacy by saying that BYU did not deserve to win the 1984 National Championship.
I just need to know whether or not we need to be married first--
what does the bible say?
I hope joe will produce a link for the O'Reilley thing-- if we're
lucky we'll see both of these yahoos getting fired.
Oh, yeah? Well BYU sucks now and sucked then!! As did Washington. UF was the real god. I mean, the real number one.
I've got the perfect policy solution.
The War on Abstinence
I can't wait for the Super Bowl ads.
Some dim bulb over at TCS Daily had this brilliant comment to
offer:
"Nobody knows if they will be a good parent beforehand. If you
decide to abstain from having a family because you feel you will be
a bad parent then you are lying to yourself. The real truth is you
enjoy your freedom and do not want to share yourelf totally with
another person.
Personally, I call that being selfish. As the saying goes where
would you be today if your parents had your attitutde."
I run into this attitude every now and then - I always say the
difference between me and my parents was that they actually wanted
kids whereas I don't. Then I have FUN with these people. I *love*
to rub in the fact that I get to retire early, enjoy my freedom,
don't have to deal with what a pain in the butt kids are, and I'M
GETTING AWAY WITH IT. I don't want to breed, and you can't MAKE me!
Call me selfish all you want ... it only makes me enjoy it
more.
Just realized whom Gibson reminds me of -- Senator Kelly
from the first X-Men movie.
Haha, too true.
Talk about incorrectly melanined people.
dagny,
You got it. This guy would need to breed with the darkest lady in
africa, just so his kids would look like, what the rest of us refer
to as "white."
"Those people would include both blacks and whites. I
suppose Asians, too."
Are we sure this isn't from an SNL skit? I mean, no real human
being would actually be that clueless, right?
Oddly enough, that reminds me of SNL's Bill O'Reilly: "For my
money, New York's got more people than California...Probably New
Jersey, too."
Let me see if I get this straight: John Gibson is concerned about the U.S. becoming like Western Europe, where immigrants best known for gang rapes and torching cars are overrunning the country; Hit & Run readers are concerned about... John Gibson.
There's no need to get hysterical about making -- unless you fear the loss of White-Protestant cultural dominance:
Baptists, don't sell your birthright -- Knight Ridder, May 17, 2005
Greg Warner, the executive editor of Associated Baptist Press says that "many congregations have failed to teach a healthy understanding of human freedom, which was such an integral part of our heritage as Christians in America."...The partnership with ABP and the Baptist Joint Committee is a natural one, says Baptists Today Executive Editor John D. Pierce. Not only is dissent discouraged in Southern Baptist Convention publications, but the "historic Baptist passion for religious liberty for all persons is not being heard from SBC leadership," Pierce says...
"In today's America, evangelical Christians have a functional majority -- their influence, for today at least, exceeds their number. And now they have started thinking like a persecuted majority," Warner said...
"It was easy to advocate such freedom when most Americans in most communities showed little religious diversity," Pierce said. "pluralism is a threat to many Christians who want the government to give them an edge over other faith traditions."
Floyd,
Probably because the solution to car torching mobs is not "more
white people."
So now I guess Reason is one of those websites:
People get outraged about something I've said, but most often it's confined to the left-wing blogs that hate FOX, and hate me for speaking my mind, and for the war on Christmas and other things. Normally I ignore it. But this time I can't. These attacks fit a pattern: Certain people and self-appointed media watchdogs purposely misinterpret what I've said in order to mount vicious, personal attacks.
John Gibson
I took a load of shrapnel during the War on Christmas. I'll never forgive that bastard Gibson. So yeah, it's personal.
Joe:
I've gotta hand it to Bush, he kept a lid on the Right's racism
for a few years
That's seriously amusing coming from someone who is an avowed
racist.
Floyd:
Let me see if I get this straight: John Gibson is concerned
about the U.S. becoming like Western Europe, where immigrants best
known for gang rapes and torching cars are overrunning the country;
Hit & Run readers are concerned about... John
Gibson.
It's a chance to pat themselves and each other on the back, and for
all to declare their superior, enlightened new-agey sensitivities.
Gibson's got a good point, but it's very un-PC to acknowledge it
with anything except derision.
