Writing in The Wall Street Journal, Shikha Dalmia and Lisa Snell explore the dubious tactics--and even more dubious arguments--of California's campaign for universal preschool.

Not sure who Tom Torlakson is, but if Don Perata has publicly withdrawn his support, that's a big deal. For readers outside California, Perata is the president of the California Senate and often described as "the second most powerful politician in the state".
If Reiner should be punished for his role in the First 5
financing scandal, then Bush should be impeached for paying off
media hacks to spread the word on his programs. Anyone who says

Sounds awesome! Let's get rid of both of them!
Imagine the outrage if some Right-to Life group siphoned off $800 million in tobacco funds to support public sevice ads touting the benefits of adoption over abortion. Boy Howdy, the LA Times woulda jumped on that. Like a year ago, when the Reiner misappropriation allegations first surfaced.
