On one hand, Hamas is making broad claims about the ability of an Hamas-led government to reinterpret previous agreements signed with Israel...

It will be interesting to see Hamas reinterpret agreements made with a government whose legitimacy they refuse to aknowledge. Possibly amusing if you can ignore the inevitable bloodshed.

Nevertheless I hope I am not being overly optimistic in believing that once they find that policing, picking up the garbage, patching potholes and getting the mail delivered is a full time job they will learn that they will have to coexist with Israel. Not to mention that success in the fields is more likely to lead to their continued electoral success.

I think it's obvious to almost everyone that the Palistinians elected Hamas because they were sick of the incompetent kleptocrats at Fatah rather than a desire to see the intafadah intensified.

Anyone else find Denna Sentilles's quote hilarious, and troubling? That's what's wrong with Feminism*--either it's being parasitized by dumb people like her, or the whole movement is that dumb.

*By this I mean Feminism with a capital F, the strident types who study Critical Literary Theory and write "Womyn" and "Herstory." Not the sane majority that just wants everyone to be treated fairly regardless of chromosome.

Why are people mad at Yale for admitting the former Taliban spokesman? Shouldn't that outrage be directed squarely at the US government for allowing the guy entry into the country??

"Shouldn't that outrage be directed squarely at the US government for allowing the guy entry into the country??"

Given that Hashemi might as well be wearing a sweatshirt that has "Property of CIA Athletic Dept." printed on the back, that sort of outrage is impermissible.

jb,

I wonder if Critical Literary Theory is as moronic a field as Critical Social Thought. Is it just anything with critical in the name?
