...Pick over the bones from the second half of my no-holds-barred interview with R.U. Sirius. Thanksgiving topics: the importance of inauthenticity, maintaining Reason's non-ideological ideology, why I won't debate the "success" or "failure" of the Iraq war, Gillespie as the Fonz, and more. Speaking of dispensing seasonal Reasonoid cheer, Tom Robbins has
a new book out, "Wild Ducks Flying Backward," which is a collection
of his various ruminations. Here's a quote from his little essay,
"How Do You Feel About America?"
"We must bear in mind, however, that the central dynamic of our
race has never been a conflict between good and evil but rather
between enlightenment and ignorance. Ignorance makes the headlines,
wins the medals, doles out the punishment, jingles the coin, yet in
its clandestine cubbyholes (and occasionally on the public stage)
enlightenment continues to quietly sparkle, its radiance outshining
the entire disco ball of history. Its day may or may not come, but
no matter. The world as it is! Life as it is! Enlightenment is its
own reward."
So, Hit and Run is a "clandestine cubbyhole," 'case anyone asks. (
I still prefer the Temple of the Vestals.)
What a coincidence. I just finished a long blog piece titled The
Age of Consent:

Full of informative links too.
Turkey tryptophan at Thanksgiving dinner making you sleepy is a
myth.

"Gillespie as the fonz": as in jumping the shark, you mean? I guess I'll have to go read the article now, 'cause I just don't get the comparison...
"the best defense against the government is ketamine blowdarts" - r.u.sirius
""the best defense against the government is ketamine blowdarts"
- r.u.sirius"
That just comes off a wee bit forced. He sounds like a Hunter S.
Thompson wannabe.
On the QT here, where is a tryptophan lab near moi?
Still nervously gobblin' @ 3AM.
(Can it, Cyrano.)
