I suspect that the hardcore geeks out there (on a libertarian blog? what?) will find Katrina: The Gathering pretty funny; everyone else will conclude—probably correctly—that we're terrible, terrible people for laughing at it.

I'm not a hardcore geek! Once I find my inhaler I'm gonna call and give you a piece of my mind.

This is off topic but is everyone still on for tomorrow night in the bowery?

I like "Asshat Sniper" and "Insane Citizen".
Donald Rumsfeld really does look like a goblin in that one picture.
Regarding NY: I won't be there. And that's bad for so many reasons. Not only am I missing the get-together, but one of my friends is moving there this weekend (tonight and tomorrow) and I was tentatively supposed to help; plus, there are at least two good concerts I wanted to see there, one featuring a band from my town.
Jennifer,
Take lots of photos at the gathering! (not Katrina: The Gathering, but rather New York: The Gathering). Caption them! Then send them to me!

Native--
Yes, tomorrow's get-together is still on. Six o'clock, Pioneer Bar. Thoreau wrote to ask how he could recognize us, so I'll tell you what I told him: Jeff is 6'3", dark-haired, and will be wearing a joke T-shirt he got for his birthday, which says something like "Jeffyology: the study of JEFF." Easy to recognize. I'm a short pale redhead (though I may look brunette depending on the lighting in the bar). So if you see a huge man, labeled "Jeff," accompanied by a miniature girlfriend, chances are that's us.
Smacky--
I can't find my digital camera, alas.
Julian Sanchez--
In light of Native's question, perhaps you could redo the thread announcing tomorrow's get-together?

I went to high school with "Ubiq," the co-creator of these cards. What's funny is that he was one of the least nerdy of our group, and yet he became nerdier than the rest of us after high school. His job? He helps design the fantasy world in Ultima Online.

I originally suggested to Jennifer that we should use some sort of marker that would make it obvious who was there for the libertarian gathering. My suggestion was tinfoil hats. But we really only need one person to wear a tinfoil hat, and everybody could just look for that person upon entering. I nominated Jeff for that duty. Jeff, alas, has decided to go for a lower-profile distinguishing mark.

Thoreau--
He doesn't want to spend the last night of my youth with tinfoil hat hair.

Well, everyone could have bought a "Enjoy Capitalism" t-shirt from Bureaucrash.

He did a great job of finding the most unflattering picture of everybody.

Whatever happened to the "Got Gunnels?" t-shirts?:

Incidentally, if anyone ever makes them, I would like one. But it must say:

Those of us involved in the idea had too many other projects.
Sorry.

Ben Stein doesn't seem like sociopathic prick on the game show.

joe-
He channeled that energy into kicking my ass. Take away the game show outlet and he starts acting like any other crazy conservative pundit.

'Katrina: The Gathering' funny? If by funny you pointless, oh yeah it's a hoot alright. My sides haven't hurt this much since the last time I listened to Prairie Home Companion.
Don't see why anyone would laugh with it, or at it, or even get pissed off about it. Just makes me wonder why anyone would bother.
