Or in the heart or in the head?

I love how David Hogue seems to be lamenting that human beings "run the risk of becoming gods." "Run the risk?" Seriously? What's wrong with becoming a god? Are people afraid of that because it will prove to them that whatever it was they prayed to never existed? Would they even care at that point, or would they be too busy reveling in their newfound, god-like abilities before smashing all the mere mortals underfoot? :)

Some other "Christian" doctrine and dogma that was borrowed from Paganism, Platonism, and philosophies beginning with the letter "P":
The Trinity,
The Eucharist,
Original Sin,
Virgin Birth,
Resurrection,
Christmas,
Easter,
Well, to make it short, virtually every single thing Christians hold dear was borrowed or stolen.

I'm not bothered by the prospect of indefinite lifespans and unfettered intellects. On both counts, I see some opposition from those who fear such unprecedented change. Considering the alternative, individual self-determination is the best option. I intend to assert that right when/if the time comes.

Other concepts that Christians ripped off from pre-Christian forerunners:
- Gathering a bunch of like-minded people together in a special "sacred" building to pray to a deity or deities.
- Listening to a guy in a robe talk about holy stuff.
- Offering sacrifices in some form.
- The arrival of a "chosen one" ordained by heaven to bring new knowledge and make major changes in the existing social order.
- Birds as symbols of messages from deities.
- People doing bad stuff and being punished for it by a deity or deities.
- People doing good stuff and being rewarded for it by a deity or deities.
- Praying.
Damn near everything, in fact. Shocking! But True!

You can tear apart the radio for the source of the music but you won't ever find it. It's not in the receiver.
