Hey, when I read Justice League comics in the 60's, Flash didn't
have a hat. Here are some folks here in Denver who are into the
zine thing:

That reminds me ... probably about time to undergo another prostate
check. Must make appt. with doc in April.
C'mon Rick. Plenty of 60s Flash and JLA issues
featured the Hermes-chapeaued Jay Garrick.

Hey kids! Fact Sheet 5 is alive on the web, and perhaps
soon on dead tree, once again.

Kevin,
The link that you provided shows the old and new Flash on the cover
of a 1962 issue in the first "bring back old Flash" episode. I must
have missed those. But do you really think there were "plenty" of
them? Was it ever explained how old Flash's hat stayed on? Magnetic
field maybe? I hope it wasn't glue.;)
Fans of Ugly Things should check out the book, Unknown Legends
of Rock N Roll, written by one of UT's contributors, Richie
Unterberger.
Rick, have you been to the zine library? I checked it out once (at
its original location). I found it impressive and a bit
overwhelming! I suppose like any library, you either need to know
what you're looking for, or have plenty of time on your hands for
browsing....
BTW, another Denver source of zine fandom is
http://ironfeather.com/. They got a bookstore featuring lots of
zines at 32nd & Tejon, northwest of downtown....

Plus, there were GA Flash stories in the 80-Page GIANT issues, and
Jay was frequently in the annual JLA/JSA team-ups. Some say his
winged pie-lid stayed on his melon due to some aerodynamic
jiggery-pokery, akin to the way spoilers work on automobiles.
Others think the (in)famous "Flash aura" cements it to his head. My
take is, that since Mr. Garrick is an old-school* kinda guy, his
helmet was bonded to his hair through a liberal application of
Wildroot Hair Oil. No Haystack Harry, he!

fyodor,
I haven't been to the zine library yet. I've been meaning to check
it out though. Thanks for the tip about Ironfeather. It looks
interesting. I love used bookstores and this one seems like it be a
little unusual.
I was going to take this opportunity to ask you if you might be
Little Fyodor. I just clicked on your name and voila, you are! I
look forward to exploring your site and attending one of your
shows.
Kevin,
You're right. That's plenty. Flash brings back old memories. He and
Batman were my faves.
