WE LOVE YOU MARTHA...

[Don Adams voice]
Would you belive, we're very fond of you?
How about, we opose the abuse of the judicial system to persecute you no matter how big of a self-serving shrew you are?
[/Don Adams voice]

I don't know if Martha has ever read Hit and Run. But given her experience with the feds, and the comments she has made about the people and conditions she found on the 'inside', I am hopefull that Martha Stewart will become an outspoken celebrity for libertarianism.

I think the last thing libertarianism needs is Martha Stewart as a spokesperson.

Word has it that they're making her wear a homing device on her ankle for the next 5 months of "house arrest". The woman came out of jail 4+ times as wealthy as when she entered, she's got 3 seperate TV offers, at least 2 writing gigs... Do they really think she's gonna skip the country?

WSDave-
You seem to have the naive belief that things like "house arrest homing devices" are about protecting the public from dangerous criminals. It's actually about the state delivering the following important message: "We're authority and we fuck with you because WE CAN."

Heaven forbid libertarianism get boosted by anyone popular with a normal human skin tone and who makes a living from other things than teaching seminars and writing books on tax dodges.

Let people control their own destinies. It's a Good Thing. And unused property tax bills can be folded into a lovely floral centerpiece. It's a Good Thing.

Attention Reason staffers: I know that this will surprise you, on account of it's totally without historical precedent, but I think your server's fucking up. That last comment took seven minutes to post.

Josh,
Any spokesperson for libertarianism is good. Are you saying that we don't need more libertarians?

Ruthless|3.4.05 @ 9:28PM|

Julian Sanchez,
You can label her the doily doyenne if you wish, but I'll never forget her show when I happened to be home during the day. She was demonstrating how to light that brass pot-like butane torch. She used it to get an ice cream mold concoction to release its grip on its mold.
If she ever gets the ankle bracelet off, she'll probably work arc welding into her cuisine somehow.
Go Martha!
She will need to be properly grounded first.

"We're authority and we fuck with you because WE CAN."

Jennifer,
I like the way you speak the kings English. Please see my various posts re traffic signals.

You probably know I have assumed the nom de plume of B. F. Skinner on occasion (while thoreau has likewise transmogrified into Senator Santorum).

My point is that punishment/ ankle bracelet gets society bubkis. Only positive reinforcement produces positive results.
We can only hope Martha will henceforth help librarians get el pointe across.
We know already she's seen the light re the Wur on Durgs and its collateral damage.
