CPAC Wrap-Up: Spring Breakdown Edition

Friday night, I decide to maintain a bit of psychic balance after a couple days of conservative saturation by meeting up with a handful of more liberal journo friends for a drink or two—

Me: So, how come none of y'all sent someone to the conference? I'd figure you could at least milk it for a few blog posts or a short squib or something.

New Republic dude: Well, as you may recall, last time we sent someone to CPAC...

Me: Oh, right, that thing.

Now, one youngish dude I spoke with did describe the event as "my Woodstock, except the drugs are better and the women are classier." But I hasten to add that I didn't see any evidence of the former (why look? who'd buy it post-Glass?) and, not having been at Woodstock, won't attempt to assess the latter.

Did the youngish dude make you feel old? I recently ran into a problem discussing Afghanistan. My friend doesn't recall the Soviet invasion because he wasn't born yet. I am so old.

Well, I was born during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, so I'm not actually that old myself.

I am too old.

Julian, you talk to your friends in HTML? DORK.
