CHiPS Sued for Pot Theft

The L.A. Times reports on a suit being filed today in California by Americans for Safe Access (ASA) against Gov. Schwarzeneggar, the California Highway Patrol, and California Attorney General Bill Lockyer to end a CHiP practice of confiscating pot from Prop. 215-legitimate medical users. Until the state starts actually supplying official I.D. cards to legal medical marijuana users (approved by the Cali legislature but not yet funded), say the cops, they have to enforce the laws against pot possession.

Here is the full text of ASA's filing in California Superior Court for Alameda County.

Of course Arnold reads reason, I heard Arnold give a speech once in which he quoted Hayek, and I was astounded because I never heard any major politician quote Hayek! After the speech I went up to him with my copy of Reason and asked if he could sign it, and Maria said, 'Reason, well Arnie just loves that little magazine!'

(Hat tip to either RC Dean or Rick Barton, in my mind you guys have merged into one super Reason comment posting entity known as RC Barton, and I forget who posts that story about Reagan)
