One Toke Over the Line in Surf City

In the Orange County Register, Reason Foundation President David Nott attacks Huntington Beach's moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries:

They claim they passed the ordinance because of an unsubstantiated fear that medical cannabis causes crime - as if grandma is going to leave chemo, toke up and go rob a bank because she has restricted access to her medicine. Meanwhile, in Anaheim, police Sgt. Rick Martinez recently said a marijuana dispensary that opened in December "has not caused any problems" in his city.

Whole thing here.

Actually, it will be a huge problem when the jackboots storm in and nuke the goddamned place.

Did someone make the city council watch Reefer Madness? That could explain a few things.

Nobody said that granny is gonna rob a bank.
It's unrealistic however, to think that it's just chemo patients getting those licenses.

Saying that legal marijuana has, or will raise the crime rate, however, is totally unfounded. Alcohol consumption has more notable role in increased probabilities of crime. We all know that drug (it is a drug.) was more dangerous when it was made illegal.

..medical cannabis causes crime..

REALLY?!? In all my experience with mary jane, medical, illegal, or extremely high potency (Amsterdam), I found a lack of motivation to do anything but watch the science/history/travel channel and order a pizza. No one should be able to create laws against marijuana without at least trying it (and inhaling) once.

Mmm, pizza.

Hey, lookit the time...it's 4:20!
