If anybody had told you on September 10 that the talk of early-21st-century Hollywood was going to be an action feature film in which marionettes play celebrities and world leaders, would you have believed it?

Sure. It's not that far fetched. More amazing is that thanks to Comedy Central and Parker/Stone, I have had the pleasure of hearing F*%k on television. It feels sooooooo good. Mmm Mmm Good, in fact.

I saw TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE last weekend. It was one of the funniest movies I've seen in recent years. If you don't like SOUTH PARK, however, steer clear!

Oh man, if I hear it's anywhere near as good as "SP: The Movie" I may actually *pay* to see it in a theater instead of wait for it to hit cable.

Saw the sneak preview. Hate to say that I was a bit disappointed. And I love South Park. Probably have seen every episode to date. It was definitely nowhere near the scope and humor of the SP Movie. It may be a product of having too many expectations from these two guys. It is, after all in their own words, a Bruckheimer spoof. Not so much a geopolitical relations spoof.
In the first instance it scores 10 out of 10. As far as weilding their usual razor wit by satirizing and slicing through political points of view, it doesn't do a job. But it seems, it, perhaps, it never intended to.

I don't think I'll see it. I am afraid of puppets, or any other caricatures of human beings. Remember those battery people that were in commercials a few years back? They looked plastic, and had batteries in their back? Scared the bejeezus out of me.

Kind of like some people are afraid of clowns, for me it is puppets. I can't even watch the trailer.

I just read Ebert's review. To wit:

"At a time when the world is in crisis and the country faces an important election, the response of Parker, Stone and company is to sneer at both sides -- indeed, at anyone who takes the current world situation seriously. They may be right that some of us are puppets, but they're wrong that all of us are fools, and dead wrong that it doesn't matter."

Welly welly well. It would seem that La Roger isn't amused. Why doesn't this surprise me? All the more reason to go see this movie...several times.
