I referenced Mills' book in a recent article I wrote for Tech Central Station. I first heard of Mills' work when she gave a presentation about the book on CSPAN. Although her proposed solution is somewhat touchy-feely, her criticisms of the current approach to domestic abuse are spot on.
I understand the intentions of women's groups in wanting to end
domestic violence.
But, doesn't having special laws about violence against women
undermine the equality argument women's groups have made for the
last 30 or so years?
If women should be treated like men and/or are equal, then they
don't get special laws aimed at protecting only them.
