Arianna Bails

After campaigning heavily in the recall, the mad Greek is now telling her dozens of supporters to vote no.

Looks like she pushed her own head in the toilet.

For fun I took KQED's "Vote By The Issues Quiz," which presents anonymously the five major candidates positions on twelve issues. Here is the breakdown of my votes: McClintock 2 (energy, health care); Huffington 3 (immigration, abortion & crime); Bustamante 4 (labor, same-sex couples, budget, and the economy); Arnold 2 (prop 54 & environment); Camejo 1 (education). Most of the responses by the candidates, unfortunately, were stinkers, and only on two occassions - regarding abortion and civil unions - did I wholly agree with the respondent. So I don't see my votes for Bustamante as being especially supportive of him as a candidate.

You can take the quiz here: http://kqed.votebyissue.com/

And on L King tonight she mentions how she'll try to get her supporters to vote strategically to keep Arnie out of the Governor's mansion. Even when quitting she keeps on changing her tune. Bets that she re-enters the race?

Jean Bart, that quiz was alright, though you're right that most of the candidates' responses were stinky. I'm a fairly hard-line Libertarian, and my results looked like this: Arianna 1 (abortion), Camejo 1 (same-sex couples... though the three non-Repubs were equivalent on this one), Bustamonte 1 (prop 54), McClintock 6! (environment, crime, engergy, health care, education, labor), and Schwarzenegger 3 (economy, immigration, budget).

Schwarzenegger & McClintock look very similar on most of the issues and it's a tossup between them on several issues. Dang, I've got less than a week before voting time... maybe I'll just go vote yes on the recall and go Libertarian, though I heard Harry Browne interview him and I don't much like the smoking man. I think I'll end up voting for multiple candidates just to cause a little chaos:)

Arianna's support was under 1%, and well within the margin of error. In other words, statistically speaking, nobody supported her. Now that she's out of the picture, maybe nobody will vote against the recall and for Bustamante, instead.

Re-elect Nobody!

Andrew Lynch|10.1.03 @ 1:30AM|

Thanks, Arianna, for making debate sexy again. And I don't think Bustamante has anything to worry about once he's out of office. The private sector calls.

Can we secede from the U.S. so George Bush bombs an aspirin factory in Fresno and chases our leaders into the Sierra foothills? Wouldn't that make for awesome reality TV?

fredH|10.1.03 @ 7:49AM|

The departure of the uberditz won't effect the race much, except to decrease its comedy content.

"Arianna Huffington". You know, that's a good name for her. "Ari", because she is an airhead, and generally full of hot air. "Huffing - ton", because she always seems to be huffing about something. In fact, one could even say she huffs a ton. The only piece that doesn't seem to fit is "anna".

|10.1.03 @ 11:17AM|

Huh. You figure she and Arnold would have found some accent-related solidarity.

Kevin Carson|10.1.03 @ 11:48AM|

Andrew Lynch,

Ever read Ernest Callenbach's *Ecotopia*?

Jean Bart|10.1.03 @ 12:14PM|

Kevin Carson,

Yes, but in that scenario only Oregon, Washington, Idaho, parts of Montana, and northern California seceded.

|10.1.03 @ 12:55PM|

I'm surprised she didn't endorse Boosttaxmonte.
