The Trouble with Nutria
The state of Louisiana has put a bounty of $4 a tail on the Argentine swamp rats that are eating up the bayou. The nutria were imported in the 1930s as a possible fur trade animal, but then got way out of hand.
Now hunters are out picking off the little buggers as part of the Nutria Control Program, which in the next few weeks aims to put a big dent the 400,000 nutria population.
Failing that, beaming them aboard a Klingon starship might be an option.

When Dave Attell did his Insomniac show in New Orleans, he rode around with a police sniper in the back of a pickup truck as the guy blew away a bunch of those ugly little bastards. It almost made up for Comedy Central airing Endure Ben Stein's Droning all these years.

Hell, mark, add enought cajan pepper to anything and you couldn't tell it was rat.
I prefer BBQ myself.

Actually they are telling the people of Lousinia to eat the Nutria! From what I've heard it's really good!

Actually the Nutria has been a slight delicacy here for some time, but it is difficult to get the tourist to eat crawfish let alone the Nutria. It is a very nutritious animal 22% protien and only 1% total fat.. how can you go wrong? But to call a dish Nutria or let alone Nutria Rat is a bit of a turn off. Since the name is Myocasis or something like that... why not call Myocas soup or barbequed Myocas? And most people who eat them, maybe 90% say they do taste pretty good.. and most people do prefer them bbq'd. Don't know myself, I like crawfish, maybe it will be an alternative to "chicken"? Just a thought.
