Washington, D.C., may become the first American city with comprehensive video surveillance. "The system can bring together video feeds from police cameras on streets and buildings, in neighborhoods, within the city's subway system and even at public schools," the ACLU reports. "With the flip of a switch, officers can zoom in on people a half-mile away." City Council is currently debating whether and how to use the surveillance system.
My position: Tear it down. Unless, of course, my cable company gets to carry it.
