Nothing has happened yet, but the FCC at least looks at the idea of a more market-based allocation of spectrum in a new report. "Billions of dollars of cumulative loss to the U.S. economy have been attributed to inefficient spectrum allocations under the current system," the paper notes. Plenty of time for FCC planners to lose yet billions more, though.
