Did Freedom Win?
Obama's supporters seem to think it's enough to put this extraordinary man in office.

My hope for now: gridlock. People say they like bipartisanship, but bipartisanship usually means politicians conspire to take more of our money and freedom. Bipartisanship gave us the Department of Homeland Security, TSA, PATRIOT Act, Import-Export Bank, war on drug users, ethanol subsides, TARP, No Child Left Behind, foreign wars and an ever-rising debt. When Democrats and Republicans come together, they put us deeper in debt.
Let's have some gridlock!
The outcome of this election is a sea of government with a few islands of freedom. Gay people are freer in a few states, and marijuana consumers in a couple more. But sadly, most of us will be victims of the ever-growing government spider web of higher taxes and freedom-killing rules.

The only "freedom" pro-regressives care about is robbing others to pay for their healthcare. There is no liberty they wouldn't sacrifice for that. Sorry my world history is a little bit hazy, how many have there been? Are we going by democracies or just empires? We have Greece, Rome, Byzantine, Spain, Britain, and The US. Rather small sample space. Some of those wouldn't count if we were going just by democracy, but either way they all only lasted a couple hundred years.

Freedom has been in hiding since its shellacking in 1942...Wickard v. Filburn.

That wasn't about "freedom", that was about overweening Federal authority as compared to state authority. Which would have been pretty much irrelevant to freedom and liberty if the Feds obeyed the bill of rights.
That's the actual problem: our actual liberties have been eroded and this is entirely separate from the inversion of the commerce clause, which is the actual constitutional consequence of Wickard v. Filburn.

Hard to say that even states that legalized marijuana are more free because marijuana is a schedule narcotic according to federal law. There will probably be court cases around it but the feds will probably win out due to the supremacy clause in the Constitution.I understand the feds don't have any jurisdiction in drugs, but they don't see it that way and case law shows that's all that matters.

I'll tell you one thing: I didn't vote for Obama because I thought he was pro-freedom. He isn't. And you bet freedom is on my radar, as it were.
I voted for him because Romney, and the Republicans in general, presented a unified front of anti-science, anti-woman, anti-immigration, pro-religion, pro-war, anti-freedom. And because voting third party would have increased Romney's chances to win, inasmuch as my vote would have been either third party or Obama.
Obama has demonstrated sporadic positives all over those subjects. Romney is a dog-abusing, flip-flopping, unpredictable candidate who lied day in and day out. And, as conclusively demonstrated by his post-election "Obama gift" rhetoric, he's stupid. Obama, for all his faults, isn't stupid.
Obama didn't win because he's so great. He won because Romney is so, so bad.
