Reason-Rupe Poll on Fixing California, Prop 30, and Rolling Back State Spending

58 percent of Californians believe their state is on the wrong track, with 52 percent concluding increased government spending per person has decreased the quality of life in California.

Those are just some of the findings of the latest Reason-Rupe Poll, which surveyed 696 California voters on issues ranging from ballot initiatives to higher education spending. Full results of the poll are online here: http://reason.com/poll

Reason Foundation Polling Director Emily Ekins recently sat down with Reason TV to highlight a few of the poll's discoveries.

    Hubba-hubba.

It seems that many, if not most, Californians aren't confirmed retards, so why do they keep electing retarded representatives?

  • Joakim| |

You obviously didn't look at their choice of representatives in this Reason poll. They favor Obama over Romney 53% to 38% and Feinstein over her opponent, 60% to 34%. They may be sick of spending, but they're not about to change their representatives. Still think they're not retarded?

  • Brutus| |

You make a helluva case. I say they deserve to get what's coming good and hard.

  • Paul.| |

Harder. The faster the collapse comes, the better for California.

  • VG Zaytsev| |

A number of reasons. Among them:

Successful propagandization by the government schools and mainstream media.

Completely disfunctional statewide republican and libertarian parties.

The structure of government in the state gives public employee unions a predominant place in recruiting and mentoring political candidates of all political parties

Also because most of the folks who would vote against Obama and Feinstein now live in other states.

The amount of support Prop 30 has on college campuses depresses me. I mean not only will there be a rally in support of Prop 30, but also against Prop 32 because the faculty have succeded in convincing the students that they're the victims and that the rich just need to pay more and everything will be fine.

That being said, at a municipal level some cities are seeing the light and taking steps to reduce their pension liabilites. And of course bankruptcy is one way to restructure debt as well. The only question is how will be in the White House when the geriatric dickhead in the Governor's Mansion has to go hat in hand to the White House asking for a bailout for our broke state.

Propaganda often works on the young and inexperienced.

Combine those factors with the fact that public schools and higher education are the most socialist institutions in America and it's amazing that 100% of students don't support prop 30 and hate prop 32.
