Maybe I just don't like political cartoons.

Any cartoon where something has to be labeled to indicate what it represents just has FAIL written all over it for me. A cartoon should be more than just an illustration of a watercooler conversation:

"Obama's budget cuts are like he's giving a manicure to a grossly obese woman and she's complaining about how much it hurts."

"I should draw a cartoon of that"

"But how would someone know that the obese woman represented the budget?"

"Oh, I'll just write 'Federal Budget' on her."

Where's the funny? Any joke that needs indicators of what stands for what is a FAIL.
