Come on guys. There are a lot of ways something like this could have worked. This isn't one of them. Friday Funnies has been such a misnomer for a long time, with only an occasional exception. Please find something that is actually funny...
Demanding to be amused without oneself producing amusement works about as well as producing fiat-money.
Dear Mr/Ms Obsolescence,
Do you also hang out a comedy clubs with bad comics and tell the
bored audience the same thing?
Perhaps more relevant than your comparison though would be if
someone gave me a coin claimed to be gold and it turned out to be
plate only. I would be entitled to complain. The Friday Funnies
claim to be something they seldom are. Merely asking that they live
up to their claim does not require me to produce funny
cartoons.
I'd even settle for insightful but not funny once in a while.
In Payne's favor he avoided the helicopter cliche.Probably only because they are hard to draw.
Happy Kwanzaa !
Today's Principle:
Umoja (Unity)
To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation
and race.
I thought the joke was that he couldn't afford a helicopter.
Because gas is too expensive. Or the President might need it, to
flee the country. Or something.
But I think "hard to draw" comes closer to the truth.
To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race.
Were I to have any desire to do so, maintaining "unity in [my] race" (a moronic concept) would most likely get me investigated by the FBI.
To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community,
nation and race.
Collectivism in the form of racism is fun! Right?
If you don't like Kwanzaa go create your own holiday you
Crackers!
"Take Somebody Else's Wife to a Long, Slow, Naked Lunch Day" sounds
good to me.
it turned out to be plate only
Demand your money back.
I would be entitled to complain
How effective has complaining been? If it amuses you, knock
yourself out.

just take her down to hassan's rumpus room. watch for baboons.
It might be funny or shocking if you weren't dealing with
"helicopter" Ben.
He beat you to the punchline a long time ago.
I've never figured out why Libertarians on Reason rip on Friday funnies so much..... Political cartoons, as a class of comedy, just aren't that funny in general. Usually they're just snippets of commentary that - for most libertarians I'd imagine, and certainly speaking for myself - are just depressing. If you look at the state of politics in America, I don't find much of anything funny. Give Chris Bok, etc. a break though would ya? Or better yet - how about we start a thread giving him captions to draw cartoons from.
He beat you to the punchline a long time ago.
I nominate that as thread-winner. ;-)
