Friends, family, and neighbors are mourning after a mass shooting in the suburbs of Houston, Texas, claimed the lives of six people—among them, four children.

The perpetrator has been identified as 33-year-old Ron Lee Haskell, an estranged relative of the deceased, who were all family members.

Haskell came to the Harris County house looking for his ex-wife. He tied up the the victims, two adult parents and four children, and shot them execution-style. The adults were Haskell's in-laws. A 15-year-old girl survived to call the police and alert 911 to Haskell's whereabouts.

ABC News reported that several of the victims were Haskell's own children, including the 15-year-old who called the police. The executed couple, the Shays, were parents and step parents to the murdered children.

Haskell was apprehended after a three-hour standoff. According to The Blaze:

The suspected gunman had led a parade of almost two dozen deputy constables' patrol cars to a cul-de-sac shortly before 7 p.m. There, the suspect's boxed-in vehicle remained for hours. Finally, after hours of waiting and negotiations, the man emerged from his car, raised his hands and sank to his knees as deputies placed him under arrest.

Images of the standoff were posted to Twitter. The community is in shock, according to Click2Houston.com:

The murders have left the community in pain.

"It's all I could think about was the kids, what they were going through when they were seeing everything happen," said Viri Palacios, neighbor.

"It's just heartbreaking to know someone is filled with so much anger that they take it out on little kids," said Majkszak.

Even veteran law enforcement officials are stumped.

"I have not personally in 40 years seen a tragedy in one family this horrific," said Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Ron Hickman.
