Most Minimum Wage-Supporting Democratic Leaders Don't Pay Interns

96 percent of them, in fact

Democrats who want business owners to pay low-skill workers more don't pay their interns, according to a new study from the Employment Policies Institute.

Ninety-six percent of the Democratic sponsors of the Fair Minimum Wage Act don't pay their interns, and just two offices pay all of their interns.

Sen. Mark Begich, D-Alaska, pays all his interns, as long as they're Alaska residents. Sen. Bernie Sanders, the independent from Vermont, is the only senator who pays all of his interns.

Others, like Sens. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., have paid and unpaid interns or provide stipends for some interns.
