NJ Councilwoman Displaced By Hurricane Sandy Fighting to Keep Seat
A week after Hurricane Sandy ravaged New Jersey, Andrea McPhatter’s century-old East Orange home went up in flames.
The white, three-story house, built in 1901, had been dark for days, much like other homes on Midland Avenue. But as utility crews began restoring electricity Nov. 5, a power surge sparked a fire on her third floor, McPhatter said.
