Apple, Facebook, Microsoft Working on Privacy Initiative for App Developers

Apple, Facebook and Microsoft are joining forces for a new initiative to educate developers about privacy.

Called ACT 4 Apps, the initiative will be run by the Association for Competitive Technology, a trade association for application developers. The effort will focus on bringing privacy experts to developer events and include its own gatherings to talk about federal and state laws and how developers should include privacy considerations when making applications, said Morgan Reed, ACT’s executive director. It also will support the development of privacy tools and academic and market studies as well as continue to bring app developers to Washington and statehouses.
