President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner will meet Thursday evening in their most recent attempt to break the logjam over expiring tax rates and spending cuts that take hold at the end of the year.

The meeting, which a White House official confirmed to POLITICO, will bring the two principals in the fiscal cliff negotiations together for a face-to-face talk before Boehner is scheduled to head back to Ohio this weekend. The meeting, scheduled around 5 p.m., will take place at the White House.
